Though Konami may not be releasing influential classics at the same pace as a few decades ago, players will be able to relive some of those experiences once more, through three upcoming compilation packs. Contra: Anniversary Collection, Castlevania: Anniversary Collection, and Anniversary Collections: Arcade Classics have all been revealed as a celebration of Konami’s 50th anniversary.

Each game will offer the following in their respective bundles.

Castlevania: Anniversary:
  • Castlevania
  • Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge
  • Castlevania: Dracula’s Curse
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Four mystery games

Contra Anniversary:
  • Contra
  • Super Contra
  • Super C
  • Contra III
  • Four mystery games
Arcade Anniversary:
  • Haunted Castle
  • Twinbee
  • Thunder Cross
  • Typhoon
  • Gradius
  • Gradius II
  • Life Force/Salamander
  • Scramble
Each package will also come with a special eBook that includes developer secrets and character designs that have never been revealed to the public. The first of the games to release will be Anniversary Collections: Arcade Classics, which will be available on April 18th, and will cost $19.99. The other two games will follow up later this summer. You’ll be able to buy all three as digital-only releases for Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

Hell yeah, old school Konami made some great friggin' games. I missed out on a lot of Castlevania titles and originals are hella expensive now, so it's a good time for them to cash in. I'll pick up the Contra pack too, but they should also do a 'best of SNES' pack.

I am going to be the negative one that a lot might hate, but fuck Konami for trying to sell me on nostalgia. This is cool and all, but when are we going to see new versions of these games? When are they going to stop firing their best people? When are they going to stop being a shit company? This doesn't make up for the years of shit they've pulled.

A lot of people don't like the second game on the NES.

Also, what, Konami doing something smart for once?
I liked simons quest, if there’s anything people didn’t like, I would say it was the villagers dialogue, it was translated wrong, if they want though even though it wasn’t by them, I believe there was a patch made that fixed that problem. Konami I guess could use that and hopefully give credit to whoever fixed the dialogue.

Woah wut, Konami remembers they have those ips?
I was thinking all they knew what to do was fuck themselves over and make gambling machines

Iirc actually even in the japanese version the villager spouted bs, so, like, it wasn't really translated wrong, unless I'm switching up a different game here

I don’t think there will ever be a good castlevania game again, the main person that helped make the game good, makes the bloodstained games and that’s why even though there’s only going to be two bloodstained games at the moment, those games might always be better than castlevania, even though bloodstained is like playing castlevania.

There won't be a good one because Konami spent the past couple of years literally digging themselves into a hole. I just wish they weren't selling us something like this because it doesn't change the fact that they've basically ruined their own company and they are now just hoping to sell us on our nostalgia

digital only is no fun. maybe it'll get a limited edition physical run if it sells well. I'll wait and see. I've only ever played super castlevania, but always hear good things of some of the others.
