SX OS 2.6 Beta released: full support for Nintendo Switch firmware 7.x

From Team Xecuter:

This new 2.6 BETA of SX OS adds full support for Nintendo Switch firmware 7.x, including ALL functionality you expect when using our product. We've been pioneering our own unique and proprietary solution for defeating any future firmware protection and we're quite happy with the results so far.

This release is marked as BETA because we changed things drastically under the hood to streamline future firmware updates and some things may inadvertently behave differently.

That does not mean it hasn't been vetted at all, so give it a shot today!

Of course, we haven't been sitting idly behind the scenes either. A lot of our development resources and attention has been dedicated to bringing SX OS to those "unhackable" switches. We are working hard to bring the SX OS experience to all of you who are stuck with an "unhackable" switch. Stay tuned for more news!

Out of the loop right now, can someone ELI5 why this topic has 800+ replies?
TX included copyright keys in this update. GBATemp has a "no linking directly to piracy" rule. They declared it against the rules now to link to sxos because of it including these keys, debate ensued on whether or not this is hypocritical.

Which for some context is not.

Because no matter what, the jihadic anti TX trolls here will always find something to bash TX and SX/OS about.

We got to 60 pages on "TX won't/can't support 7.0.x" before that become an obvious fail to the anti TX crowd and got locked quick smart.
We're already on 40+ pages of "TX did support 7.0.x....ah but they did it shittily". This thread will surely continue longer than 60 pages.

Meanwhile, XCI loading, USB HDD support, EmuNAND on free CFW.....crickets.

You know what, I don't really care what CFW has this feature or is lacking that feature. I just want it to work for my current needs. If Atmosphere can do something that I need that SX-OS can't do, I'll load up Atmosphere. Otherwise, I'll use SX-OS.

USB HDD is coming to free CFW. Heck a build of the feature is already available.

And how it will work?

NSP install to usb? Is that possible?
it allows you to install nsps from hdd. so we do have hdd support, and xci support if you factor in that theres homebrew to install xcis as an nsp. all that missing is 'emunand' which is a pretty shitty feature anyway. atmos has the advantage of supporting new firmwares a month in advance and having new homebrew features faster like retroarch full ram access and reboot to payload.

Also its security stuff, which makes it pretty safe.

It allows to install from usb but not to play from usb.

And about emunand, only people that are banned can say that emunand is "prety shitty". Emunand should be the first feature that atmosphere has to add.

i like how youre rephrasing this thread as people complaining because the implementation is bad. it *is* bad, but thats not the debate. the debate is that its illegal, and it was started by tx employees/fanboys accusing the mods of being corrupt and biased for holding up the rules that everyone on the site has to follow. the pages contain post after post of tx employees whining that them breaking the rules has consequences and that the mods are out to get them. none of this has to do with the implementation being bad it has to do with it breaking site rules (and the law).

that doesnt contradict what i said. i said atmos now has hdd support through homebrew, and it in fact does. and no emunand is very shitty. i hated using it before on the 3ds, and the switch version is even worse. i wouldnt use emunand if you paid me.

Nothing at all in the SX OS binary is "plaintext". You have to use that tool to unpack/decrypt it before you can read it. Whatever. a fixed version is out already for USB and activation, so this thread should be locked.

...thats not the debate...
Fair enough.

Rephrased:

We're already on 40+ pages of "TX did support 7.0.x....ah but they did it shittily" and "GBATemp fairly/unfairly delinked to them". This thread will surely continue longer than 60 pages (but may not now that 2.6.1 is out so soon after 2.6)

It could also be less charitably phrased as:

We got to 40-60 pages because a small number of GBATemp users enjoy flamebaiting SX-OS users.

Emunand is a 2nd most important feature for me.
I can make a backup of Emunand files on my PC.
Then I can mess around in Emunand and when I want to reset it, just delete files from the micro sd and copy over the back up emunand. Takes 7-8 minutes only.
It is like a save state of that time of your system.

Done this several time.
