I don't know about all the originals as there might have been a later run with FeRAM (no battery).

As for repros we tend not to deal with them around here -- it is out and out paid piracy. From what I have seen though it can vary massively what people are flogging, I would not be surprised to see a battery backed save though.

The problem is that original cartridge are expensive in some Serie and metroid is on of these.

The repros works fine.

Battery saves are unusual on gba.
The saves are chip only.
Battery are only used for rtc or cheap repros.

For the price, it makes more sense to get a flashcart

Some gba games had batteries for the saves. Both metroid games on gba had battery backed saves. Some fusion carts did not. So any repos would either have to include that sram chip + Battery or patch the rom for flash/eeprom storage.

Fake carts are mostly crap in my experience. Either shell out for an Everdrive/EFOmega or only buy real games. Fakes are failure-prone and/or screwed up in often very frustrating ways. Thinking of Pokemon Crystal fakes with no RTC and Emerald fakes with no RTC and borked saves. Oh yeah, I also had a Green (English translation hack) GBC cart that failed completely in like an hour of use.

Rtc are Real problems.
But games that no rtc Feature Have are working good as repros.
The only what i knew that Make problems is the zelda 4 sword game.
Normal Version corrupt the saves.
Only sram saves works.
That Problem has flash Cards like ez flash omega too.

And pokemon without rtc Patch has problems to on the omega.

Yea, it looks like they started out with SRAM. I get the impression that virtually all games from 2002/2003 onward were FeRAM instead of SRAM unless it had a battery for RTC; maybe there were instances of FeRAM shortages that they used SRAM for some revisions? I definitely know the Metroid Fusion I bought in 2003 uses FeRAM.

There is also the matter of resale value. Fake carts haven't got any.
Could have sworn the Ferengi have a rule of acquisition that went something like "Consider resale value before any purchase," but I can't find it. Oh well, The Unwritten Rule always applies.
I think that people wo buy repros doesnt want to resale it.
Why should someone resale a repro?
They are only to play.
Games are no store of value like a house.
