I'm not really sure what causes it, but sometimes when I boot up the vWii the menu is discolored to this brownish color. It's only the vWii menu so I know it's not my TV set or anything like that. It also affects the color of the games I'm playing through it and not just the menu. Any idea as to why this happens? Screenshot below.

What? This is completely new to me. Can you describe what you have modded on your wiiu?
(both vwii and wiiu stuff)

What type of display connection do you use?

Have you tried modifying the display settings? (I don't remember if it's possible on vWii...)

(I have a theory: Since the vWii use a different resolution than Wii U, it's possible it only happens because of that... (vWii : 480i | Wii U: 1080p)

vWii:
- CTGP Revolution
- Homebrew Channel (IOS236 Installer v8 MOD, Legacy XP, Legacy XP USB Launcher, Riivolution, Xyzzy, Yet Another BlueDump, Gecko, USB Loader GX, CleanRip, CTGPR-Channel, d2x CIOS installer, Dump Mii NAND)

Wii U:
- Haxchi (HB App Store, ddd, Disc2app, gecko/boot.elf, Haxchi Installer, HBL2HBC, HID to VPAD, Mocha CFW, WiiU Nand Dumper, nnu-patcher, SaveMii Mod, SDcafiine, Sm4sh2sd, WAPDRC Lite, WUP Installer GX2, WUP Installer GX2 mod, Wuphax)

I did modify my Wii U settings somewhat recently to 1080p. I double checked the vWii menu and it doesn't seem like there's an option to change the display settings on there.

vWii still outputs as 1080p upscaled.

Is your hdmi cable not broken? (as in no breaking points)

Nope it works fine for everything else and the Wii U menu looks normal. I think this occurrence happens when I'm switching back and forth between the Wii U and vWii menus after launching the vWii homebrew channel. It usually doesn't happen after just turning on the Wii U.

Are you using YPbPr cables? looks like your Pb cable isn't making that great of a connection...

Did it made that brownish theme before hacking vWii? You could have a broken cable, a broken cIOS or other...

Can't be a cIOS, because if it was, it would only apply to backup loading or any homebrew that required it. Which in this case, he just boots to system menu in vwii

You know I think it's a file on my SD card... Whenever I boot back to the Wii U menu and to go back to vWii menu the issue is still there. However, after removing my SD and then going back to the vWii menu the color was back to normal even after flashing pink. Now which file is the question... I don't know which one would cause it to do this.

Edit: Not sure if this helps but this is what the root of my SD card looks like.

That definitely could be the cause. I got it from LegacyXP 2.0 apparently (screenshotted below). I'll experiment with it a few times today and see if it was the issue. The discoloration appears randomly so when it does show up I could try removing the file and see if that fixes it. I also appreciate the help from you guys, so thank you very much for that.

Well no I was just curious, if it comes from legacy xp it's likely fine. Try a different sd card with all the same files. If it still does it, it's a file. (Which I don't know how on earth that would be possible) if it doesn't happen with the other sd card, the wii might be having trouble reading the sd card. (wonky formatting?)

I was thinking of upgrading my SD card anyways so I might as well since this issue is going on. Do you know if the Wii U supports SanDisk - Ultra PLUS 32GB SDHC cards?

I think it's some incompatibility with the TV.

Try setting the console resolution to 480p then enter vWii and see if it still happens.

This orange color corruption has happened to me on a real hacked Wii. Something about libogc bug or homebrew that caused some temporary graphics corruption. Probably the same thing happening here on vWii.

I swapped out the SD cards and so far nothing has happened on the Wii U so I decided to use the old SD card on the Wii that I have homebrewed. Well... the Wii turned a blue hue color this time. Powered it down, took out the memory card, and it was fine. Not sure what's up with this memory card or if it's a file or what.
