My point was to explain why it might be true that SX OS will never receive 7.0.x support.

i just explained why they have to support 7.x

there is still a large untapped market of millions of switches
money invested in SX and Stargate (if it really is TX)
stock that suppliers have would be returned
damaged to the TX brand
worse comes to worse they can use sept with the splash screen. so they will get some stick, but i dont think any SX users would care.

what chance do they have of finding a exploit for ipatched units?
Back when the iPatched units first surfaced, TX posted a detailed description of what the iPatches were. They claimed their method of finding out this information was a *second* exploit of the RCM process which was not fusee gelee.

If they have an exploit for iPatched units it would make sense to delay the release of this until Mariko units launched, hopefully still vulnerable to this second exploit. It would extend the life of their product.

Put this info together with hexkyz's post, and I speculate that TX may be forced to burn this exploit sooner than they perhaps wanted to.

You don't need a bootrom exploit to dump ipatches btw. What they were saying about having an exploit could have been (and probably was) just bullshit

You two need to talk because you clearly disagree. Maybe Lacius' recycled phrases can eventually convince you, Annie, that it is at least possible that SX will receive 7.x support.

Not sure what there is talk about. I stand firm in my belief that this is the end of TX in the Switch homebrew scene.

and my poll shows most sales come from before free CFW
There's an inherent bias to your poll - in that the folks taking the poll are members of this forum, and by extension are more likely to be exposed to free CFW and scene developments in general. Let's not pretend that's even remotely indicative of the reality outside of this bubble. Now, I'm not saying that it can't be the case, it very well may be. However, your poll isn't demonstrative of this assertion - not that you're necessarily saying it's authoritative, as I've seen you say there's no other data. Just be aware of the bias in it.

It was bullshit. When the framing of "how did you get this" was a lie, you know that its trying to oversell. Why lie if you weren't trying to oversell? And let's be frank, their original methodology of selling themselves suggests to me that they didn't even understand how ipatching worked or at least not the full extent of it and bought into the nonsense of the ipatch space being filled already, which was true but not somehow a permanent reality when refactoring exists. Some of their usual PR posters on here even repeated that exact line as a reason as to why it was unfixable.

Its also been, what, 8 months now of their market losing future-streams of revenue? You don't let eight months go by with the caveat of "find an exploitable switch" to your consumers who likely don't (a.) have any idea what that means and/or (b.) can't be assed.

As a business, if you have a technique to allow your business to propagate, you use it to make sure you revenue doesn't start to dry up. If you don't... you generally start to venture out for new revenue streams from already 'bought in' consumers, queue StargateNX which is both a double-tap on invested consumers and, if it were to succeed, allows them to start monetizing free CFW solutions as well.

I'm of the impression that the dongle market in general got super crowded super fast, and eaten up most of its market and saturated heavily at this point. That's why there's no real new additions to the "buy our knockoff" product lines for a few months now, as there's no real profitability left in it. The niche segments of people who buy dongles/modchips like shoes exists and for the latter probably makes a good penny but the investment on the latter is also much higher from the designer since modchips are dangerous to screw around with.

Edit: Also this has little to do with their plans for 7.0.0, I expect them to release a solution soon, whatever it may be. I don't see them bailing yet, still plenty to try for them for future monetization.

maybe XCI files take up more storage space ( even after trimming) maybe even slower to load but i'd rather have a XCi file than a NSP one, no installing, just cut and paste and I can load them from a SSD drive.

I'm from the Pc scene, I go way back to the original IBM PC. so an NSP file to me is like an install-able version of a pc program, while a XCI file is like a portable version, you can just run it :)

That's a dumb point of view. Any benefit is negated by the cost of having to switch games by going into the gallery rather than just tapping the game and it run.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

YOU don't agree with it because YOU don't see a gap in difficulty with it.. whereas I get asked to fix the fucking coffee maker because I work in I.T. and well the coffee maker needs electricity, the computers need electricity.. so it must be a I.T problem.

There are a LOT of people out there (particularly people who work and don't have the time to google how to do something, then go searching or even know WHERE to go searching if it doesn't work) who are not technical.

Look back to the early days of Kosmos etc. and no, it was not simple.. there were a LOT of requests for help, people couldn't get games working etc. THAT is where TX made their money.

All the people on here saying ''setting it up is easy''... No, no it's not - TO OTHER PEOPLE. Not everyone on here could service their car I bet, the mechanics would all be laughing at how useless you are because you don't know simple mechanical steps. Same principle.

There is no gap in difficulty between extracting one zip to mSD versus extracting another. You might want there to be one, but it is not the case. Extracting Kosmos to mSD is the same task as extracting SXOS.

TX made their money selling piracy for pay before free CFW with sig patches existed. They cobbled together half-working in development stuff and added in the sig patches, which were not yet being publicly distributed. SX stopped adding in features from free CFW (like self-injecting the payload on restart or crash & system updating through Settings without losing AutoRCM) long before 7.X came out. The product appears to be dead. Just like TX did with Gateway, they'll keep talking about how an update is coming 'really soon, we swear!' and it'll never arrive. There is no reason to believe that 7.X is on the horizon for SX users. People should (and many have) move to a modern CFW. Unless you want to pin your hopes on SX glitching the switch to leak the tsec root key with each update. They do not have a sustainable solution. They don't have TSEC exploit(s). SX users will repeat this nightmare again and again with each TSEC package change.

Can't believe this has gone on for 50 pages. What's there to talk about? No roadblocks means no roadblocks. TXs got this, and chugging along fine. They need to make sure it's up to snuff before dropping a beta or stable release (meaningless monikers at this point, where's the beta home boys) so we play a little waiting game maybe they'll let us know they still don't have roadblocks next month too. TX always saves the day, don't forget they have fancy hacking microscopes and are about to drop an XBone hack any minute.

49 days later! Going to pull it apart and see if they went the easy route of just embedding the root key. Will be disappointed if they did, that's a lame approach.

I'd be interested in your findings, it might have been 49 days but next time it could be a lot sooner
