hello and thanks in advance.

my buddy had got sx os and life was good until he updgraded his firmware to 7.0 by accident. tired of waiting for 7 capable sx os, he turned to me for assistance with atmosphere.

i had put atmosphere on and had the switch operating normally. however, nsp installation just would not work. i tried goldleaf .3 and .4, from sdcard and with goldtree .3 and .4 from usb. goldtree would say it cannot find usb device. i had read about devmenu working well so i used chu nx to do a 6.2 downgrade but now i cannot get a boot. i have a feeling it is because these fuses are burned. i have a nand backup from a month or so ago but he has played games in the meantime and wants to retain any new save data. is a restore from that old backup my only option here?

i would ideally like to get back to 7.0.1 and resolve the nsp install issue from there, but i need to know if that is a possibility. and if so, how.

any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Did you put signature patches onto the SD card? They don't come with Atmosphere.

I would also recommend Tinfoil and Fluffy for NSP installations over USB.

Because you have more burned fuses, you have to boot through RCM even to OFW (hekate - stock).
What does the switch do when you boot it (OFW and CFW)?
If it hangs on logo, you have to restore yiur backup or rebuild your NAND.

You cannot get a boot because you probably didn't do a factory reset right after a major downgrade. To make it to boot again, you need to restore your backup OR rebuild your firmware.

I hope in the future we'll be able to do a factory reset even without booting into horizon so there's an easy fix for stuff like this.

So it boots. Ok, you forget the factory reset the console. Can you boot to recovery menu (vol up and dow on boot)?
You can rebuild your NAND using this guide but before that you should restore the backup. Otherwise he will lose everything.

yes, can get recovery menu if holding vol up+down when booting to fw from hekate.

i have an old nand backup would not a simple restore be sufficient? i was hoping to maintain the data put onto nand since that backup was made. but willing to accept what i can get at this point and that is better than nothing. is there no way to dump or retain current nand data and also return to a working firmware?

Try updating from the recovery menu (if you have no wifi connection, connect it via ethernet to USB).
There is probably a way of doing it by mounting the NAND and downloading the saves to PC and decrypting them and so on.
If that won't work, try restoring the backup.

was able to get wifi but not 90dns protected. hoping for the best.

thanks for your help!

edit: yep the update from recovery menu did the trick no restoring of old nand backup necessary. hope the console is not banned now as fw was showing as "6.2.0 (ams 0.8.5)"

now back to trying to make usb install work.

You can retry to do a downgrade but this time remember to tick the option to do a factory reset right after the downgrade in choidujournx. Remember when doing stuff like this it's always best to make a nand backup first to be extra safe.
