Hacking [HOW TO] Successfully downgrade from 7.0.1 to 6.2

Hey folks,

I searched a while for a way to successfully downgrade from 7.0.1 to 6.2
because i just ordered sx pro before i checked if its working (damn dat commercials)

First time i tried i flashed from 7.0.1 to 6.2 directly - ERROR 2000
second time i flashed from 7.0.1 to 7.0 to 6.2 - ERROR 2000
Third time i flashed from 7.0.1 to 7.0 with option factory reset and then from 7.0 to 6.2 with factory reset - IT JUST WORKS!

So now you can create your emunand with sxos and restore the main nand with your backup and your good to go!

You are supposed to do a factory reset, whenever you're downgrading between major versions.
So this is pretty normal behavior.

What is the point of downgrading?
The video mentioned a lack of sig patches.

I did this exact process a week ago. I also missed the fact that a factory reset was needed after a fw downgrade. I'm sure the info is on gbatemp, but I found the tip on a YouTube comment. I ran the whole process using the sx pro dongle. A week later and I'm still screaming at Tetis 99, with the emunand available for sx payloads.

Don't you need the latest firmware for online, tho?

And SX OS doesn't support 7.0.1?? Hahahaha! lol Atmosphere 0.8.4 came out a little over two weeks ago. It's open source. They forgot to copy-paste the code? Lol, TX are probably still in the Bahamas on vacation from all the money they collected.

7.0.1 sysnand for online, 6.2 Emunand offline for cfw.

thats my setup atm but as soon atmosphere supports emunand i update it to newest as well dont think sxos will be updated before shitendo releases 8.0 ^^

There's a little issue with factory reset. It changes your pairing key.

So, when you restore your sysnand you can't get paired your Bluetooth devices in emunand AND sysnand at same time.

Yeah I didn't realize this until after the fact. I've just been reconnecting it. I assume there's no other way to have it constantly sync up unless I create another Emunand?

Safe, as long as you do it the proper way. Either via NAND backup or choidujournx (and factory reset when going between major updates). Factory reset is strongly advised anyways.

Fair and accurate, alot easier than manual downgrading where people are at big risk of bricking because they don't read the guide saying

I did the downgrade from 7.0.0. to 6.2.0. without factory reset and everything worked perfectly. Why is it strongly advised?
I still did not power off the switch since I downgraded and now I'm planning to create EmuNAND 6.2.0. and then restore my NAND backup from before the downgrade to avoid any more fuses getting burned.
