Hey guys, gals and non-binary people,

so my hacked PS3 was online, and I've been banned by Sony. The Console itself was banned, and my account was banned from the PSN as well (Error WS-37368-7).
I know that I can't download my games on the PS4, but what about the games already downloaded on the console? There are many conflicting informations on whether the digital games remain playable forever or them being locked if the console stays online.

The "Bans and suspensions on PlayStation Network" site is quite vague, and says that "If your account has been banned you no longer have access to content, subscriptions or trophies associated with the account."

The "Information on Banned Accounts, Consoles and IP Addresses" site states that "You can play offline games that don't require any connection to the PlayStation™Network. You can't play games that use the PlayStation™Network, purchase new DLC, or sync trophies." It does not specifiy whether the games are meant to be digital or physical ones.

Some people on Reddit and other sites say that they could keep their games, others say that their games were locked (but it isn't clear if the PS4 itself was banned as well).

A PlayStation Service employee on the phone said that if my games are still available, "I seem to have found a bug because they should be locked". But, you know, these people aren't omniscient.

Does anyone here know for sure if I'd be able to stay connected (to download updates for games), without fearing that my digital games will be locked at a certain point?

Is your account banned? If so, how does the second PS4 connect to the network to check the licences in the first place?

No it is not banned sorry for the confusion i was just replying in reference to the lock out from psn. If your ps4 cannot connect to the psn service it will not unlock the games unless it is your main/primary ps4 because it stores the drm on the system so it does not have to verify with psn if they are your games. Not sure if this is helpful

It doesnt seem right they can do this, block you from online play sure but take away what you paid for? I bet it wouldnt hold up in court, but that doesnt stop sony from trying.

It is not right, and at least in Germany, where I live, this isn't allowed. There was a person who went to court against Amazon because its account was banned and the court said that the digital content has to be available nontheless.
But yeah others like Sony and Microsoft were apparently not impressed by that.

This exact same thing happened to me about 1.5 years ago. On ps4, you can still play all of your downloaded games that you purchased. However, you will no longer be able to log in with that account and download/redownload any purchases. So as long as that account is still on your ps4, you can play the games, but if you delete any games or the account, they are gone forever. My Ps plus remained active on that account, but once it expires, of course any ps plus games will no longer work, even if you get ps plus on another account on the same console.
My ps3 account and console was banned, but I was still able to create a new account on ps4 and essentially start over.
So basically all you can do with that account now is play any games you already downloaded offline. If a game is deleted, ps4 dies, account is deleted, they are gone forever and need to be repurchased on a new account.
I also had almost $200 in my psn wallet on this account that I no longer can access....
I think you can still get updates, not sure though. No dlc though.
I suggest not even wasting your time trying to fight it and get your account back. I spent a lot of time trying that since I had a lot of games, money, trophies, friends, etc., but it all was a waste of time. Sony will not budge.
In the end, I created a new account and started over. I moved all the games from my old account into a folder so I know which ones never to delete or they will be gone.

Thanks for your detailed reply! Thats what I experienced as well. Sony won't reactivate it no matter what. Anyways, luckily, as posted before, laws are a bit more on the consumer side in Europe, so I am at least allowed to gain access to ALL my data Sony has stored (including all purchases, reason for banning ect.), and with that data, I might contact a lawyer to see if he might send them a letter. I mean if Amazon was brought to their knees, why wouldn't there be a chance that Sony has to make the content available again? I don't have much hope, but I am willing to try, just for the fun of it :)

Good luck. Hopefully something will work out for you. I tried contacting sony several times and filed a complaint with the better business bureau. I will tell you that anyone you talk to at sony will completely lie to you. I had spoken to a few people and several supervisors, but they will all make stuff up and/or have different stories. At least that was my experience with sony of america. Finally, you account was banned, not deleted forever. You will probobaly be told that it is already gone and it's not possible to recover it.
