but think of the others after it (including the one i DARE NOT MENTION) grant it the only other good was was the resident evil movies but the majority was painful to watch

Not sure what you are saying here so...

A) I doubt a PG-13 rating for this movie, would keep most people from bringing their kids.
B) Not just kids want to watch this movie, so a PG-13 rating is a nice middle ground.
