Can anyone tell me why PSX audio still sounds like a garbage disposal? I'm using the latest stable (1.7.6) Retroarch and the core posted by
@m4xw that supports multiple audio tracks. My driver is switch_thread and audio latency is at the default 64ms. Yet I still hear audio that crackles and generally sounds like awful. I've been dealing with it but I wanted to play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and audio is kind of necessary to the game.
I've tried playing with the audio latency but it doesnt seem to make it any better (or worse). Am I missing something?
Edit: even when paused, you can hear static in PCSX. And I cannot figure out why.
Second edit: I think I fixed it. Run a slight overclock. 1,224Mhz or 1,581Mhz seems to be best. Set audio latency to 80ms, and enable frame duping if it isn't already enabled. I still get some slight audio pops while paused, they go away while playing. Also, enabling the FPS overlay showed me that the reason I was getting awful audio was because the game wasn't running fullspeed. It was running around 50FPS, which is why I decided to try running it with an overclock.
