Yeah just saw them, thanks
While Kosmos uses Atmosphere as a CFW, its file setup and bootloader differ to the point that you cannot mix the two of them together; either you use vanilla Atmosphere plus manually adding the patches or you just use Kosmos. Meaning if you want to use vanilla Atmosphere, you should remove all Kosmos files/folders. If you don't know what they are, simply remove everything that isn't the Nintendo or Switch folders.Should I wait for a new version of Kosmos? Or is updating my current 6.2.0 system on Kosmos + hekate + Atmosphere-0.8.1 as simple as:
1. Unzip the Atmosphere-0.8.4 release on to my SD card [Does this overwrite the 0.8.1 installation?]
2. Unzip the 7.0.1 sigpatches posted earlier in the other thread onto the SD card
3. Use ChoidujourNX to install the 7.0.1 update as well as AutoRCM to preserve fuses
4. Use fusee-primary.bin as my new payload (from TegraRCMGUI since I push the payload over USB from my PC)
Also on step 3 is there any need to turn on AutoRCM from ChoidujourNX if I already have it enabled? I already did it immediately after installing hekate when I first put CFW on my system (I was already on 6.2.0 via an official update so didn't bother with ChoidujourNX at the time).
Hey guys, hi! Long time lurker here (since the beginning of 3DS times haha) and today I wake feeling like TODAY IS THE DAY to finally hack my switch!! But first, some things that aren't clear enough for me even though I have searched and read a lot (a lot) of threads...
1. If I am banned by Nintendo it just means that I won't be able to go online again, right? BUT I would still be capable of updating my firmware and playing backup nsp games?
2. For what exactly is important NAND backups? I remember doing backups of my 3DS and never using them... I have read that if I have a NAND backup I can restore my Switch to a previous state (e.g. before installing nsp files) and it would be safer to use Online? Is that it?
3. I have seen so many tutorials here, and in reddit, and even on youtube and I don't know which one to follow. Keeping in mind that I want to have a CFW mainly to run backup games, which process do I follow? I was thinking about following the ReiNX guide or this Homebrew Guide that was linked in reddit. Some advice here please?
Thanks in advance guys. And keep the good work, I love this community!

As for your other question, ChoiDujourNX works like a system update meaning it will overwrite your boot0 which is where AutoRCM is stored. Meaning it doesn't matter whether you have AutoRCM enabled beforehand or not, whatever you enable in ChoiDujourNX will determine if you have AutoRCM afterwards or not.
Sure although not much reason to update to 7.X right off the bat even if Kosmos supports it. Not sure if you've heard but title installers are a bit broken on 7.X. You cannot install anything on the SD card on 7.X. You can only install via USB or network on 7.X until the title installers are updated so I'd recommend staying on something stable like 6.2 until that gets resolved.-snipping because the images are huge-

Not sure about the specifics but it just seems like USB install works fine regardless of the destination whereas any .NSP file that starts out on the SD card can't be installed anywhere. If install over USB is working that's all that really matters to me, since I use a FAT32 microSD and thus have to install over USB anyways. I'm in no rush to update though. I'd just like to be on it by the end of next month when Final Fantasy VII and Yoshi's Crafted World come out, since I imagine both will be 7.0.1 games.

Or do you mean even if I install over USB I still couldn't have the game installed to the SD card? That it would have to be installed to the NAND? That would be a huge reason not to upgrade yet.
- Although it depends on the ban, the most common ban allows system updates. Bans don't affect anything offline
- A NAND backup is to recover from a brick, first and foremost
- Either guide is fine. The ReiNX guide will setup you up with ReiNX while the Homebrew Guide will give you Kosmos which is a package containing Atmosphere as the base CFW as well as some homebrew applications (and patches for backups).
Yes you can use Kosmos to launch backups. For your second question, you can play your legally owned games while using CFW (there is one rare case but it involves having a console with a firmware lower than 4.0 which is not very common nowadays).Oh, thank you for your answer!
Can I set up Kosmos and still run backup files? Because I am also interested in homebrew but it is not my main concern, and I want to keep my games always updated. In this case which one is what I am looking for? Or in the end I can do the same things with both scenarios?
And just another thing... How is the relationship between a modded Switch and original games (cartridge and digital)? Will I be able to still play them or would it be just wise to sell my games later?
Thank you again!
Any payload .bin file and a way to launch send payload .bin file (which will differ based on how you send the payload) is all you need to check if your Switch is patched. Just sending a payload has no risk of getting you banned.what do i need to download to check if my switch is 100% unpatched? the method that is 100% safe and wont damage or get me banned
Their GBATemp thread highlights some of the features and items that are included in Kosmos. Also those patches don't necessarily allow for unsigned code to be executed; that is actually what the payload you send via USB enables. The patches allow for the installation of games you don't legally own.Hey Draz, thanx for all the support. Every thread I check has you in there somewhere.
I also started off with Kosmos but would rather have things as "clean" and minimized as possible.
Where can I read about the differences from Kosmos and Atmosphere? It seems to be some patches I guess that allow the unsigned codes to execute?
