Incognito

incognito
Wipes personal information from your Nintendo Switch by removing it from prodinfo.

purpose
a) So your switch can go online without worrying about a ban or using random dogdy DNS servers that are also likely to get you banned.

b) so malicious homebrew applications cannot steal your personal certificate.

disclaimer
Always have a nand backup. I am not responsible for any bricks or bans. Use at your own risk, experimental.

This application backs up your prodinfo to the SD root, you should keep this backup in a more secure location, and not leave it on the SD card where malicious applications can read it.

edit: atmosphere blocks writes to CAL0, so you must use ReiNX or SX OS to install this. Once installed, you can switch back to atmosphere.

Rip all of the people that ran this without doing a nand backup.

Not sure If I want to use this just yet.. Time to wait and see how it goes :ninja:

RIP to all those who comment without fully understanding how this works, a brick is impossible :) Worst case scenario, you just restore your prodinfo with hacdiskmount. I'm sure someone will make an easier way to restore it eventually.

Welp. I can sense a brick wave incoming. Please do not run this unless you're on EmuNAND/have a NAND backup.

Pihole can do the exact same thing (+ more). Currently it's blocking Nintendo servers so I don't accidentally update.

This cannot brick you, it is impossible.

I dont believe the no ban claim. Nintendo is gonna see that the prodinfo is wiped and ban you just for that.....

Nintendo can't ban you, they dont know who you are, and they cannot even connect to the nintendo servers. Think about it, if you delete your serial # from the switch, how will nintendo know what your real serial number is to actually ban? You're "incognito". Granted technically, they ban your cert (but that is deleted too).

Is it not possible to ban base on some other component that isn't modifiable on the Switch? The MAC address is software written, so that can be changed, but are there any other examples that can't?

Which games cause the crash?

Some of the newer games, especially some of the Neogeo games, try to phone home when you first run them, and will crash if 90DNS is enabled. Disabling 90DNS (but leaving SX Stealth on) solves this, I have not tested with those games, as I dont actually play any video games and I dont know which one exactly it is.

Copyright is not the same as trademark. You're using their icon which unless they explicitly allow usage of is for their own usage only.

Thats why I mentioned the license it was released under (MIT to GPL) which is a copyright license, and then i further stated it was not trademarked either. I know the difference between trademark and copyright :) Google released it under MIT or GPL.

What about the logo itself? That's what I'm curious about

Are you sure those licenses actually apply to the icon itself? Because it's rather common for code to be put under such a license but not graphics used within an application.

Edit: Anyway, I'm not here to try to force you to change it I just wanted to mention that legally there might be a small issue.

It is not a logo, it is an icon. An image is either copyrighted or trademarked, in this case neither.

Hey, I have been wrong before, I researched it before I used it, and I could only find the GPL and MIT license. If you feel its licensed under something, please post the license.

Define dodgy DNS servers
Using random DNS servers you find on the internet is putting a lot of trust in strangers and opens you up to DNS poisoning. It's certainly not going to get you banned because there shouldn't be any reason for Nintendo's servers to know that you're using those DNS servers, but you're still trusting a stranger not to lie to you about where they're pointing you. It can make for very convincing phishing attacks, basically.
