Homebrew Doubt about a FreeShop for Wii

For a FreeShop to happen, there needs to be a CDN open for request, and pretty much the wii servers are closed, so a connection cant be done.

Therefore, the data for the wads, would be need to be hosted on someone computer or directly from a site and downloaded. so, its would be easier to just download the iso or the wad to the PC.

Besides, the WADS library for the wii, its quite small.

This is wrong, the CDN is still open (since you still can download your bought software).
A freeshop is totally possible the same way it was on 3DS. Someone just needs to dump their tickets and share the title key. Then you just take some common ticket (e.g. from the forecast channel), replace the titleid, version and titlekey with the one from the VC/WiiWare and download the rest from the CDN and pack it as WAD. My PyNUSD tool can actually do this on a PC, you just need to pass a titlekey. The ticket won't be valid of course, but if you fakesign it (or install it with a good WAD manager since it fakesigns it itself) it works.

The only reason why it doesn't exist is because no one made it yet and because it's faster to do it on a PC.

The only thing I know about the future of the wii shop, is that they will make a version called "open wii shop", dedicated to the homebrew and not to the wiiware and virtual console.

What a nice way to get sued for some millions, lol. Who's the brave soul that will host it so people wont need to use google?

Some torrents sites uploaders have that brave soul. You can download the whole WiiWare/VC collection from there just with one small torrent file.

Torrests aren't hosted on servers, mate, they're peer-to-peer. I myself have hundreds of torrents seeding right now. Torrent sites host no illegal files, but they still get rekt on every chance the feds get to rekt them. Imagine using a central server to host pirated content straight to milions of Wiis, if there's a way to get in trouble is by doing that, even here in Brazil they jailed a dude for that (hosting easily accessible pirated content, movies/tv series in the case).

It would be highly illegal as someone would need to host nintendo's copyrighted files, unlike shop, which pulled straight from their servers. That's not possible on the wii since the wii shop channel closed.

I'm not sure they could sue for millions, actually. When suing you have to make the claim that you have lost money or it has cost you in some other way, but in this case you couldn't buy WiiWare even if you wanted to, so they can't claim that it costs them sales. Virtual Console and multiplat releases are a different story of course. But most of the WiiWare seems to be exclusive.

Ofc the couple don't have the money to pay and Nintendo isn't really interested in the 12 mil, but it's a demonstration of power showing they can leave you in debt for ever if they want to. Nintendo lawyers are the biggest bullies.

I hate to say it, but I don't see any repercussions to having a freeshop. Morals aside, it's not like Nintendo would lose money from people downloading Wii Ware or VC titles. Am I wrong? Unless something is done, those games are lost forever.

If a company like Nintendo can make money with "lost" games nothing is lost.

And if a Newest newer new 3DS XXL comes in 2024 the have the "lost" games for sale in their Download Shop(s) for sure.Otherways they sue for it. :wacko:

Those games will never generate revenue again, I don't see a downside to them being pirated.
