I bought a new switch with the correct serial for modding. I'm going to use SX Pro for modding. I was wondering if there was a guide for setting up an unopened switch. I had a few questions regarding first time use.
Is there a way to update to 6.2 Firmware through a game? Is there a way to emuNAND update to 6.2 without a game? Should I go online first before modding or should I just keep it offline? How do I update games?
I have more questions which is why I'm looking for a guide. Thanks!

If you aren't going to use online play, then you should keep the Switch offline. You can use ChoiDujourNX to update to any system version offline and without a cartridge. All system versions except 7.0.0-7.0.1 are supported by CFW. You can update games by installing the update NSP with Tinfoil or another NSP-installer.

You also don't need to purchase anything SX-related.

Thanks for the quick feedback guys. But, I'm looking for a guide. Like "First 10 things to do with your new Switch to mod". Something for people who are new to switch and modding.

You can use this guide, but I don't think it covers SX OS. But as @Lacius said, there is no real reason to pay for CFW on the switch, there are a couple of free alternatives (e.g. ReiNX, which has a goal of reverse engineering SX OS' features and implementing them for free in the near future, and Atmosphere). For now, SX OS has (as far as I know) two features that no other CFW has, namely XCI loading and emuNAND (but they are on the horizon in the aforementioned CFWs, respectively)

Edit: the link I posted probably doesn't answer all your questions though, and I am unsure of how updated it is regarding recent developments in the scene

The first thing you should do is make a NAND backup using Hekate. After that, it all depends on what you want to be able to do.

Here you go, if you're planning on setting EmuNAND up with SXOS this guide helped me. With this method, you can play online with legitimate bought games through your SysNAND, and then for homebrew/piracy use EmuNAND (never go online with emunand). Its a pretty sweet setup in my opinion, best of both worlds on one switch.

On the step telling you to backup your NAND (100% always do this before anything) just use Hekate. Remember you can compress your NAND backup with winrar or 7zip/etc, if your NAND has no games on it you can get the backup down to something crazy like 2GB or below (its 32GB uncompressed)
Also one more thing before you start the tutorial, delete all your internet settings just to be safe. You can set it back up in sysnand after you finish the whole process.
