My microSD card failed and Hekate threw an error indicating that there was no FAT partition present, the options were "press power to continue" and "press volume to go back"

I accidentaly pressed power and booted into OFW

I was on 4.1 and updated to 6.2 using ChoiDujourNX so my fuses are burnt now... any other complications?

Downgrading to 4.1 is pointless so I'm not worried about that, but what about future updates? Will I have any trouble updating to 7.0?

the stuff was already on the sd card i simply ran the payload inside sx os CFW worked beautifuly to put it on 6.2 then i deleted the old backup folders contents on the sd card and ran the dump again and its now dumping the new updated NAND on 6.2 I can save for future use.

when ever 7.0 works again with sx os what am I to do in order to boot OFW again? or when am i goingto be able to boot OFW again. thanks

How risky is it to install NSP DLC files for a legit game I bought? The DLCs cost more than the game itself and I really don't want to buy them, but also don't want to risk getting banned (haven't been banned yet since hacking my switch last july).
Greater than 0 but less than 100. Or you can just stay offline with the pirated files and restore a clean NAND dump before going back online.
I get my switch with xs os 2.53 and 5.1 a couple days ago. Looking on sd card i see there are except boot.dat and licence two folders: nintendo(save, contents, album) and bootloaders(hekate.ipl.ini). Are they neccesary to be on sd card, last two folders? What are they for?
The Nintendo folder stores any games, updates, or DLC installed to the SD card and pictures from the Album. You cannot ever get rid of the Nintendo folder; if you delete the folder, the Switch will make another one. The bootloader folder is for usage with Hekate only.

If a listing for the NSP file of a game says it requires a firmware version that's later than what I have installed, does it error out when trying to install it with Tinfoil, or does it error out when trying to run it? I'm wondering if I had a bad dump or not.

Also, is it safe to update a Switch from 4.1.0 to 6.2.0 using ChoiDujourNX if Hekate and Atmosphere are both up to date? Has the TSEC update in that firmware been worked around, or will it cause problems?

I haven't been around this scene for a while (Fusee Gelee hadn't been out for long before I stopped paying attention to wait for things to mature). I'm someone with a 7.0.0 console. I recently decided to try and see if my current Switch is RCM exploit compatible as I bought it when the patched consoles were rolling out and turns out mine loaded a payload just fine. (It's labeled orange in the serial number thread) So I have a few questions.

I'm aware 7.0.0 changed a lot of stuff but was recently cracked. I plan to stay there for now. Would it be possible to have an emuNAND specifically for offline homebrew use, for free that is? I've seen that it's possible with SX OS but it looks like it costs money so I don't know if I want to spend the money at least just yet just in case there's a free alternative along the way I'm not aware of. I plan to pay for Switch Online, buy my games, play online, etc. But I also want homebrew with little to no risk of getting banned so an offline emunand sounds like the best thing we have at the moment.

Also, have there been any confirmed bans from a modded joycon? I used to bend the pins, but for some reason my Switch wouldn't go into RCM mode, so I soldered them together inside the joycon, which works. When Fusee Gelee came out, I think I remember us being assured Nintendo had no way of telling if a joycon had the Tegra home button pressed, but I want to be extra sure on this.

not sure bout the tx section... with modded joycon (soldered) With the latest controller update stuff may be broken

If you install it to SD card, it throws an error but it won't if you install it to NAND. However when you try launching it, the game will fail. Also all CFW support 6.2 so you can go ahead to update to that firmware with ChoiDujourNX.

Hi, can I backup the emunand files in the SD created by SX? I chose the create files in SD option.

In case my SD corrupts or something, can I recover all the emunand files from a backup in mi PC, put them in a clean SD and have a working emunand like nothing happened?

I have 6.2 emunand, and 5.1 sysnand. If I update sysnand to 7.0 i won't be able to makea CFW working emunand from i

Hi guys,

Need some help with clarification on my current situation. Sorry if my question is real noobish..

I fucked up by not backing up a clean NAND prior to hacking my switch and installing/playing pirated games. However I believe I have been doing so on the EmuNAND which I created. So in this situation would my NAND backup still be a clean sysNAND?

The following is the things I did in order:

  1. Installed SX OS CFW as per their guide.

  2. Enabled Auto RCM as well as creating EmuNAND on hidden partition.

  3. Reformatted my SD card into exFAT format (Can anyone confirm if EmuNAND was removed from doing this? I don't think so as my SD 64GB SD card only has 30GB capacity).

  4. Moved XCI files onto SD card and installed/played the pirated games.
I am now dumping the NAND using SX OS CFW menu. I'm thinking my NAND should still be clean as I was operating on the EmuNAND? Could anyone help confirm.

so I got to 6.2 and created a dump of the nand but then realized i hadnt done the emunand on this yet so i figured after saving that dump i needed to make another dump after deleting the emunand and trying to make a new one
it deleted the emunand fine it says
but then i turned it off and tried to turn it on like before when it loaded fine and im getting the boot.dat error? :( now im a bit scared as I dont think I should have deleted that emunand and have no idea what ive done - someone please tell me its not as bad as i think? again i did JUST dump the NAND before deleting this emunand please help

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

holy freakin moly it seems when i confirmed "delete emunand" it formatted the WHOLE sd card the thing is completely empty. pfft wow where do the saved games data stay at in this case is my first question should i reload anything is that all gone - thats pretty much only thing that matters at this point . omfg

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I made a whole copy / clone of the SD card after it was done on 6.1 so Im going to attempt to move all those files back onto this sd card and boot it back up. my only question at that point if it works then what should I do about the 6.2 NAND dump i made/have later that was made after I updated using the choi thing and now i have to start all over again is the NAND dump I made just pointless for 6.2 in the current circumstance? or is it still usable if so how/when

Thanks for the reply, but Tinfoil throws this error when I try to install the NSP on 4.1.0.

I'll try it with an updated firmware.

EDIT: After installing the new firmware, the NSP installs and boots. Thank you for the prompt reply. What's this about a controller update the Switch asked me to do?

Thanks Draxzelex. Except hekate.ipl.ini in bootloader is there need to be Sys folder with libsys.lp0.bso? And payload folder with .bin files? I ask this because when open jekate and press launch there is a issue you can see on picture

I am experiencing a very odd problem that someone may be able to shed some light on.

I'm using a Mac with Parallels running simultaneously. My normal route to NSP installation is download NSP file to Mac, transfer to external HDD plugged into Windows (Parallels) and then copy to SD. That way I have a backup on the external HDD.

Problem is that doing it this way doesn't work - the NSP will never install on the Switch and it crashes every single time forcing me to reboot the system. It took me a while to figure this out. I initially thought the SD card was corrupted, but it turns out that that isn't the issue. If I download the NSP to Mac then transfer directly to the SD (again, with the SD mounted in Windows) they install flawlessly every time.

So the problem appears to be the transfer to HDD. If I remove this step, no problem. Does anyone have any idea why this might be? Because if I'm unable to use the external drive I can't actually keep too many large files on the Mac as it takes up too much disk space. I already reformatted the HDD partition with no success.

The HDD somehow seems to break the NSP when it's installed in and then back out. The HDD is split into two partitions. The HDD partition I'm using for NSPs is formatted to ExFat and is 350 GB approx.

Does anyone have any idea why this would happen and if there's a resolution to allow me to store usable NSPs on the HDD?

I'm guessing archive bits

Hey everyone
I recently restored my 5.1 hacked Nand and because I currently have 8 burned fuses (FW 6.2), Sleep mode isn't working properly and I cannot wake it up again after I enter sleep mode. I thought Hekate 4.6 was supposed to fix this issue, but it isn't working for me. Any idea about what's going on would be greatly appreciated cuz frankly I am lost. It's been months since I last used my hacked Nand, but I am sure sleep mode worked just fine up until the point I accidently blew the fuses...

Heya'll I've recently started to play some newer games and ran into some firmware related issues. (Deadcells V1.1). Would updating the switch to v6.2 from 5.1 allow the game to run without erroring out?
If i do update from 5.1 to 6.2 with Choidujour, would i have to do anything with the CFW?

Since it appears all of the programs fail to format it, try formatting the SD card via the command line. You can look up how to do that on Google. They will be able to better explain how to do it than I can.
Just a quick update - the new MicroSD reader arrived this morning (gotta love Amazon Prime).
(Anyone else trying to use old card readers and having issues take note - they might not support larger cards!)

I ran the card through DiskPart, card formatted fine as FAT32 and was recognised in the Switch with no update prompt.
Currently 10% into backing up the NAND using Hekate 4.6 - thanks again mate.

I am using xs os 2.53 and 5.1
My question is: is it safe to use retroarch emulator on switch with sd card, using exfat? There are some users expereinced corruption of data on sd card with exfat.
