Make sure the USB is formatted with a FAT32 primary partition and is MBR NOT GPT. If it is GPT it will not work.
Also make sure your PS4 is is set to 1080p and plugged directly into your TV.
If it is running through PSVR it will not work.

Ive got it set to fat32 MBR and the tv is set properly. Might be a case of doing it repeatedly and see if I can get somewhere with it. Thanks again for taking the time to give me advice

not a problem.:)

If you have any usb stick you can test linux out on that.
You can even test it out with a 1GB usb stick.

Just copy the bzImage and initramfs.cpio.gz files on there.

Obviously you will not be able to install the full linux distro on there but it will still boot if your PS4 and TV are compatable.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I have just tested the 3 Linux Loader paylaods from AlAzifs web host and can confirm that they do actually work but they are very unstable.(even using the methods I mentioned before)

First I get the message 'Fail' and then the message 'Done' over the top of that. Then it either works or throws a memory error or KP. Something is definatly wrong.

I managed to successfully load Linux 3 times out of 7 tests.

My advice is to wait for the next release of X-Project. (coming very soon...)
All the Linux payloads are in there and working great. I have fully tested and tweaked the code myself to run as smoothly as possible.

I will give that a try I followed modded warfares guide. Just remembered the usb hd I'm using is not very reliable I have another one but have alot of personal stuff on it. I'm tempted to try that but worried I will lose my files if I do

@Bryan1986 are you 100% sure that the FAT32 partition is the ONLY partition on the USB and that it is set as primary.
Sometimes some formating software can make a small partition at the start of a disk and this can mess things up when trying to load linux.

I just tried somting with an old 1gb usb stick and it worked.

I formatted my USB stick as exFAT on the PS4 itself. Copied over bzImage and initramfs.cpio.gz and it booted.:)

@Bryan1986 Try this:
Plug your USB drive in to your ps4 and go to settings > Devices > USB Storage Devices > 'YOUR USB DRIVE' > press options and select 'Format as exFAT'

when it is done plug it in your PC and copy over the bzImage and initramfs.cpio.gz files.

See if you can now boot linux on your PS4.

@Bryan1986 What type of PS4 do you have. phat, slim or pro?
How are you loading the exploits and which one are you choosing to boot linux?

The usb drive is not coming up it's saying it's not supported so I can't format it from ps4. It's a phat ps4 I tried again just there and when I type in the psxitarch address in search bar it's not doing anything now just staying blank

It certainly sounds like its a compatability issue with your USB drive.
All I can suggest right now is trying to reformat again it on the PC and try and at least get your PS4 to recognize it.

Try different formatting tools to reformat the USB.

Once the PS4 can see it in devices we can go on from there.

I had a drive that the PS4 would not see and reformating it helped.

Think it could be. I will have a footer with it and get back to you. Thanks again for the help

I can confirm this as well. I installed psxitarch 2.0 easily. But once I went back to orbisOS and clicked on Linux Loader/vram1/vram3/etc. the payload will not work. At first I was getting the "not enough free system memory", but after caching I didn't get it anymore. If I use al-azif's payload, it will just say "fail", then say "done" behind the word fail, then nothing will happen. ps3itateam.github.io/linux-loader/ will say done but will also do nothing. I have everything setup correctly, 2tb fat32 MBR one partition. Maybe something to do with the usb's were using? Cluster size? I dunno lol

Does anyone's ps4 say that the usb is unsupported on startup?

Any time.:)
Don't worry you will get there in the end.
I tried this one instead of psxita and it worked better got into the black screen with writing it was ps3itateam.github.io/linux so it's not my usb

found the problem, it appears it matters what type of usb your using. Was using 2tb external HDD, but a simple 32gb sandisk flash drive worked fine
