TX Presents SX Installer v1.4

Chinese New Year maybe here, but Xecuter does not take holidays, so they are back again with yet another update!
SXAPP14.jpg

To help ring in the Year of the Pig, here is a Happy New Update, this time for their SX Installer App, with v1.4 bringing with it New Features for you to enjoy trying out on your modded Nintendo Switch console, during the Spring Holiday Festival. :)
SX Installer is back with another update!

Now available in V1.4, it adds several features including support for homebrew install and auto update.
  • Added paging of game icons for large collections to lower memory consumption.
  • Added support for Retroarch ROM icons.
  • Added support for SFTP and FTPS.
  • Added "Homebrew Store" for downloading, installing, and updating SX recommended homebrew applications, including SX Installer itself.
  • Ability to dump updates and DLC's to NSP from XCI titles.
  • General UI enhancements.
That's all for today. Stay tuned!

EDIT: SX really needs to add kips though. This is basic stuff that literally every CFW including the one they based SX OS on has built-in. Come on.
Before SX OS implemented idn_mitm.kip into their CFW, someone mentioned that the reason we'll likely never see external kip support is that one could fabricate a kip that makes cracking SX OS a breeze which makes sense. Right now, all we have are hexkyz's unpacking scripts.

This will never happen, as it would undermine their DRM protection.
e: great timing as always, see the post above.
I think they do secretly have it. Otherwise how would the Wireless Play kip work? But yeah if they released it then it would impact their security (which has been bypassed anyway).

Sidenote, this applies to multiple companies like EA, Sony, Microsoft, Activison, etc. I'm sure you've never bought anything from those companies either, right?

Sure, what TX does is scummy. But posting on here and yelling "DON'T USE SXOS" at the top of your lungs won't convince anyone otherwise who wasn't already going to avoid it.

If you like SX OS and don't care about free license crap, awesome! Use it! If you're morally offended by SX OS and don't want to use it, that's cool too! Just stop forcing your opinion on everyone who dares utter the word of the devil - "SX".

They're obviously making money from it and no amount of posting on here/discord/social media is going to make a difference. Calm down.

Maybe these aren't the best companies in the world, but EA, Sony, Microsoft or Activision don't steal opensource code without obeying licenses. They actually put effort in their products. That doesn't change the fact that I didn't say a single word about them.

I never forced my opinion on someone. I'm just presenting my points and having a civil conversation, just like (well, almost) everyone else here.

Something ironic about the Sony statement. They used an open source emulator for the PS Classic and they gave credit for it.

I know that the first two versions didn't allow this but can you finally launch titles from USB if you're on 6.x firmware? Last I looked, for the USB XCI loading, you needed to be on 4.x? 5.x? (I forget which version was required.)

Actually, most of us have just stopped replying because we realize just how stupid can be. Gary and the SX team are literal cancer to the homebrew community and they have been years.
In my case, I'm only not as vitriolic because of the not-so-thinly veiled threats that GBATemp staff is gonna remove any dissident and topic ban users, even when it's justified.

That or move the conversations to the GPL thread, because containment is an incredibly effective way to hide criticism.

(also 100% agreed on the last sentence)

sure they can charge prices, but it just makes no sense.
That's the Free Market in action, I would never buy a PS2 game for more than 20 € but some people try to sell some PS2 games for 120 - would I think they are smart (especially after seeing how unsurprisingly it's still there after almost a year)? No, but they are free to try...

SX does Fr33 lol $25/m G4m3z better than competitors (or is perceived as doing so), which happens to be a feature of significant interest for most CFW users - a feature most if not all competitors of SX like to snob

You do you, use whatever CFW you'd like and support. I can't tell you otherwise, personally I wouldn't spend money when there's viable alternatives out there; that are also open source. Not to mention most alternatives have a better community that isn't filled (exaggerating) with tons of TX SX OS sluts that fork over money for dumb purposes.

That's a perfectly respectable (and built on sound principles) opinion; but you'd (not really) be surprised at how many people prefer to pay to have work (and, unfortunately, research) done for them!

that are also open source
For most people, that's not a practical advantage, just a sequence of 2 words (as could be "BuzzFeed journalism" :P ) that they may have heard as a desirable property but they don't know why...

This is the "everybody does it" excuse. One company acting scummy doesn't excuse nor normalize another doing the same. These companies/groups should always be called out and kept honest.

"Oh they're just like that" is not an excuse for scummy behavior in a community.

Still no reason to bring it up in every single thread.

Every thread regardless of topic? I agree
Every thread about TX regardless of subtopic? I agree
Every thread where a feature that is part of the scummy behavior is being discussed? I disagree. is it known that TX installer contains stolen code/non attributed code?

That we know of! I imagine they probably have (likely nothing important or world shattering), but definitely aren't anywhere near as "we stole this suck it" obvious as TX, which is a big part of the problem. There's also the chance they've never done it, but my faith in people is... lacking.

I never forced my opinion on someone. I'm just presenting my points and having a civil conversation, just like (well, almost) everyone else here.

Sorry, I should have been more clear in my post - The stuff after the first sentence wasn't directed specifically towards you, just the first part.

As a software developer who has tried open source multiple times, I can honestly say it doesn't work for most things and usually just results in people stealing/reforking your work and claiming it as their own.

...Like SXOS.

Either that, or when people complain about something and you let them know they can fix it themselves, they suddenly vanish/tell you to sod off.

What am I doing wrong? Using nspdivider. Got the folder ready for archiving, reduced name of the folder if its too long but can't get the nsps to install. Not my sd card, I went and downloaded all the nsp files over again. But same problem. Got all the way to 100% installed but failed right at the end of Onimusha Warlords. Then tried World of Final Fantasy Maxima and when I got into homebrew menu the switch goes black with error code 2168-0002:(Can someone please help me out? Or direct me to a file with these two games already split or trimmed and can be easily installed? Thanks in advance.

Just used my exfat microsd and placed the full files up there and they worked perfectly. I know now that I'm doing something wrong with nspdivider. Please help someone.
