Hello everyone,

Actually I've got a 5.1.0 sysNAND switchwith Reinx.
As I want to update it to 6.2.0 and I've already got a SX gear, I'm wondering buying a SX PRO license for using the emuNAND file.

Why ? Here are my reasons :

-I want to keep my 5.1.0 efuses ;
-I do not care about ban because i won't go online (my switch is used only for nsp files) ;
-I do not want to stress because I did not charge my switch for a long time.

So my questions for using the emuNAND are :

Do I need to use jig everytime I want to switch off my switch (emunand launch)
What will happen if I run out of batteries ?
Is emuNAND really that good ?

Thanks

First of all you don’t need SX Pro license for EmuNAND, just the normal SX OS license. You can also keep your fuses without EmuNAND (Update with ChoiDujourNX and enable autoRCM). The real advantage of EmuNAND imo is that you can go online with SysNAND and play offline games with EmuNAND. Also you don’t have to mess with SysNAND. In SX OS you can enable that your switch boots automatically in EmuNAND when you enter RCM. You still need Jig or autoRCM. If you ran out off battery just charge it ;)

Thanks for your answer, I will use emunand only to stay in lower firmware on sysNAND.
what will happen when autorcm on in emunand and running out of batterie ?
Do I have just to charge the console, boot in sysNAND then do the trick to go back to emunand ? no burnt efuses this time ?

Your fuses can’t be burned if you SysNAND is on 5.1.0 and your EmuNAND is on 6.2.0 since EmuNAND can’t burn fuses because your not booting over Nintendo boot loader. My SysNAND is 2.1.0 and my EmuNAND is on 6.2.0. If you don’t want to use a jig use autoRCM but keep in mind you need to turn your console off from SX OS payload in order to fully shut down it. If your console run out of battery in EmuNAND just charge it and use your jig again (if you don’t enable autoRCM).

I don't think that you emunand if you are not planning to go online and you plan to use nsp files. Just backup your nand and update to 6.2 with choidujourNX install autorcm and live happily without burning fuses with free CFW.

Emunand is perfect if you plan to go online and play all your originals normally with latest OFW and use emunand for homebrew and backups on whatever version emunand is supported.

SX OS is a good OS for people who play online, for people who cheat, load XCI or use external hdd, i think that it's not your case.

Emunand is also good if you like to experiment. It's basically a sandbox so if you want to run some questionable hacks, maybe a copy of a game that people say might have brick code in it, screw around with the system menu, or any other things that can lead to a brick you are pretty much safe in emunand. There's also the benefit of being able to have multiple SD cards setup. The switch will think that they are totally independent of each other, it's like having multiple machines. This way if you have children they can have their own set up and you never have to worry about them nuking your save files. Or getting into your mature games.

Team-Xecuter is indeed the best line of products, I hugely recommend using them! I even take them to me if I don't have my Switch near me, that's how much I like those products.

I'm a bit late to the party but thought I'd offer you my advice and hope that it's a little helpful, and sorry it's a bit of a wall of text.

My Switch is on 5.1.0, I wanted to keep as low as possible to preserve my Fuses yet still wanted to do the most I could so I stayed at that firmware hoping that EmuNAND would be released. I also wanted to be able to play online if I could but that wasn't a priority for me so when the ban waves started I took the precautions of deleting WiFi settings and so forth. I wanted to play my backups and also in the first days SX OS was apparently the safest (most bans those days seemed to be related to LayeredFS) so that was the Option I went with. I have been happy with it as a complete setup and the fact it plays my backups, I also setup a (Separate Partition) EmuNAND when it was released and updated it offline using ChoiDojourDX.

How this might help you:
My setup is
SysNAND - 5.1.0 (fuses 5.1.0)
EmuNAND - 6.2 (fuses 5.1.0)
AutoRCM - Off

I leave my switch is sleep mode most days however when I turn it off depending on what I want I do have to boot using my "Jig" (paperclip + Phone, still waiting on Dragon Injector :D ). if I boot using my Jig it will auto-boot the EmuNAND (you can bring up the menu if you hold + as it boots) , if I boot without RCM/Jig it will boot my SysNAND on 5.1.0. I've only had the battery drain on me once while was traveling, I just plugged it in and it charged up then booted SysNAND, I wanted a bit then rebooted into EmuNAND and happy off I went. I like the EmuNAND it protects the SysNAND from update's, bad NSP's (should still backup often) and means you can make as much of a mess on it and it doesn't affect the SysNAND, you can also have a "proper one" to play games on and a "dirty" one to test homebrew and such on.

I won't be super Pro or super Negative against SX OS as some people on this forum are, I found I have pro's and con's from it, pros are definitely EmuNAND and Being able to play my own Backups, it's a simple setup too. negatives is you can't customize it (load personal Kips etc) and your stuck waiting on updates sometimes. You say you have the SX Gear so it's definitely handier for you to load it up, it can use NSP's and while not caring about a ban it does have stealth mode which it kinda handy as you can play online using Lan-Play without worrying about DNS with is handy.

AS for other Custom Firmware's they can do mostly the same, some setup are harder, some easier but you can match them a lot more to what you want. also Atmosphere does seem to be updated a little quicker when it comes to Nintendo's update Shenanigans but if I recall it doesn't support SigPatches (without some modification but I don't know much about them so I can't really say and you only really mentioned SX OS.

Hope it helps you with your decision ^^,

Thanks dude for your answer, it's very clear now, I made the good choice buying this SX OS license.
Atm, I'm in the same configuration as yours and I enjoying every second o my switch (6.2.0 games have appeared so …)

Mine is 7.0 ofw and online, and 6.2cfw emunand. I really enjoy the stock experience while being able to use homebrew separately.

In my case fuses are not a problem. Jig+dongle coldboot are less of a hassle than a warmboot softhax that probably would need a browser or a game to run the exploit online. And sofhax would mean losing stock OFW in order to load hacks in a not so convenient way.
