Why does ModMii recommandes Firmware 4.3 if I am on Firmware 4.3, I always thought downgrading to 4.1 is an additionally brick-protection, or is this an outdated advice?
Or is the risk of bricking while downgrading higher than while running a wii on Firmware 4.3?

If u were to lose power in the middle of installing a new system menu you could find yourself with a semi-bricked wii. 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 are all basically the same except the higher firmwares try harder to delete homebrew, but ultimately even 4.3 can be exploited so there's no reason to downgrade if already on 4.3. Similarly there's no reason to upgrade if already on 4.1 (or 4.2).

thanks again - i meant if cios236 is not used and ios58 and ahbprot instead, is then no risk of a brick if wifi is turned on?

if 58 and ahbprot are used then there is a risk of any app hanging in middle of say system menu install, system hangs because of said bug with 58/ahbprot and bam u got a brick, 236 doesnt matter bug is only on ahbprot i maybe wrong but thats how i understand it

The risk is present only when Ahbprot is enabled and the app is launched via the hbc and if the wii has no wifi. If any one of these criteria are not met then there is no risk. It makes no difference what ios is used by the homebrew channel, 58 or otherwise. If the wii has a wifi connection then this bug should not be a risk, but that being said if the internet cuts out or disconnects at the wrong moment then you could be exposed to risk. This is why it's safest to use ahbprot for non-critical installs, like 236, and not for system menu files, etc.

Again ahbprot is great and safe if used via an ahbprot enabled forwarder channel, but it's more work to launch apps this way than to launch them using a CIOS via the homebrew channel, especially when most of the apps we're talking about will only really be needed one time.

Worked on another Wii last night and ran into this error: MyMenuifyMod - Missing.

I used one of my laptops that updated from ModMii v6.4.9 to ModMii v6.5.0. Not sure if it's just me so I'm mentioning it just in case. See attached picture.

ModMii v6.5.0 Error - Missing My MenuifyMod.png

EDIT: To fix it I just copied MyMenuifyMod from another SD card from a different Wii into the APP folder along with the ModThemes folder with my desired red spin theme into the root of the new SD card.

i also uploaded the syscheck to this site, that is analysing it:
syscheck.wii-homebrew.+++++/#!NTVjNjEwODY2ZmQ2

(please replace +++++ with com, i'm not allowed to post links)

sorry, its german:
keine patches = no patches
funktionslos = stubs

green = latest ios
yellow = outdated ios
red = incorrect ios
blue = missing ios

now i'm confused, according to this check, i'm having outdated, incorrect and missing ios/cios, thought i used the latest version of modmii?!

What does that mean? Do i have to update manually? Or is the report from that side not correct?

(tested ripping some games to usb and playing them, it worked)

Hi all,

With the Wii shop closing in a couple days and the possibility that this also means system updates and all other ios downloads may also disappear, I was wondering what one should download thru ModMii and store in a safe place so other unmodded Wiis could still be updated and modded in the future?

Obviously I can just "download everything", but is that really the best plan of attack or does someone have a list of just the items on nintendo's servers that are at risk of disappearing? Is it just page 1 of the advanced download section? Do I want to first set the option to keep the "00000001 folders" for the ios downloads?

Also, once this "bulk download is complete, is it only ModMii's temp folder that has to be backed up and safely stored?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Yes just the temp folder, and use the download queues referenced in the changelog for the last update

ModMii 6.4.9 Released!

6.4.9 Changelog:
  • Added warning to main menu suggesting users should download files from NUS before Nintendo Wii servers shut down in 2019.
  • Bundled prepared download queues for users to easily grab files from NUS for future use.
  • Changed recommended cIOS249 to base 57 from 56, and cIOS250 to base 56 from 57. Syscheck updater will consider both configurations as up to date.
  • Added USB-Loader GX and made it the default\recommended USB-Loader.
  • Added Nintendont to ModMii Classic's download page 2.
  • Updated MyMenuifyMod to v1.6 to support wiimote plus remotes.
  • Fixed broken links to guide images and gifs.
  • Other minor changes.
  • With 3 kids and counting who's got time for changelog jokes?

I was hoping to replace mmm with an alternate app (i.e. wiimod modmii mod) that supports wiimote plus remotes for this release, but that will have to come in a later beta update as it hasn't been properly tested yet.

it is not just the d2x-v8,
according to that syscheck-site, the IOS 11, 20, 30, 40, 50, 50, 70, 80 and cios 202 (hermesrodries-v6), 222 (hermes-v4), 224 (hermesrodries-v6) are outdated
and IOS 223, 245, 246, 247, 248, 251 are missing

This modmii program is such a big help. Managed to get all all that i needed and more for 4.3u before the servers shut down for nintendo wii. Wonder if a modmii like program this will be possible in the future for wiiu if needed.

Yep, 10.42 is basically the source code unification of v8 (Wii exclusive) and v9 (Vwii exclusive), while v10.43 adds hotplugging and iso loading from either port - at the expense of compatibility, especially with regards to emunand

I personally stick with v8 based on 57 as my main (249), haven't needed anything else yet...

according to that syscheck-site, the IOS 11, 20, 30, 40, 50, 50, 70, 80 and cios 202 (hermesrodries-v6), 222 (hermes-v4), 224 (hermesrodries-v6) are outdated
and IOS 223, 245, 246, 247, 248, 251 are missing
So what? Newer is not better (especially when newer means stub)
Only one IOS is running at any time, anyway, so they can't hurt if no software tries to actually use them

All the ones you mentioned under 80 are used for older versions of the Wii Menu, so keeping working versions only matters in the case of (intentional or accidental) downgrades
IOS80 is needed by your Wii Menu; and since all of those are patched, it looks like you have an "antibrick" mod (in case of downgrades or region-changed Korean consoles with the Korean key still installed), don't worry about them

The missing ones are not a problem either, they are listed for your information (they all are potential CIOS slots - so is any number not used by official IOS - or stubs)

The Hermes CIOSes you have are indeed not recommended anymore for use when d2x can have all of their benefits, but again - having them installed is far from bad (and some older homebrews, especially media centers, may be hardcoded to use 202 - it was, before the official IOS58, the leading USB 2 option)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

With the Wii shop closing in a couple days and the possibility that this also means system updates and all other ios downloads may also disappear
Not a problem (for now), the ability to buy new tickets is not linked to the CDN's existance
That said most versions of IOSes are dumped on a certain cubic plumber site

Is there any reason why my wii console keeps saying that priiloader is not found? Im at where you install priiloader. Once into it and press the + button. It says its not found and exits out.
