I am extremely new to all of this hacking on switch business. I have jailbroken my iphone before and thought of this as a a similar process but I seem to be wrong. I have already acquired all of the necessary tools to complete the I have searched as much information I have on it though I still am hoping to be answered some general newbie questions I have:
1. Will acquiring the cfw and injections/payloads be possible on a Mac as for the rest of these questions and if so is there a step-by-step anywhere? I seem to not find one anywhere.
2. What is homebrew and how do I go about navigating it? No details if needed just simple menu screens. Is it in any way similar to Cydia on the iphone?
3. Are NSP's the pirated games on switch? How would I go about installing and putting them into the switch after homebrew is installed? I have yet to find any websites for nsp's or tutorials. Mac?
4. Will the permanent ban that will come (which I am already settled on accepting) only be console related or account related? Such as if my account is to be banned will it ban all switch accounts that have that account linked or will it only be my switch console which I modded?
5. If I leave my switch on rest mode will I have to relaunch cfw or will I be able to simply turn it on from sleep mode and go back into what I was doing without the payload injections?
6. What are the differenct CFW's such as ReiNX and Atmosphere and how do they differ from each other?
7. Will all of this be easier if I just did this on windows?

2. Homebrew are apps made by users and not certified by in this case Nintendo. Works only with CFW.
3. Depends on CFW you want to use (Atmosphere, ReiNX, SX OS)
4. If ban will be related to CFW, it will ban your console, not your accounts.
5. The second one.
6. Atmosphere is more friendly for people who wants to modify anything. ReiNX is easier for people who wants to play game backups.
7. Yes.

  1. Yes
  2. As stated above, they are unlicensed programs designed to work for the Switch. And because they are unlicensed, they need CFW in order to be launched. Not familiar with Cydia so can't answer that question
  3. .NSP files come in 2 flavors; the first are installable files which can either be game backups or homebrew applications. The other are forwarders or overrides such as hbl.nsp that replace a current application on the Switch (in this case, the Album). For the ones you install, any title installer will work. Options include Tinfoil, DevMenu, Rommenu, DZ, and Goldleaf
  4. Majority of bans are console-based
  5. Sleep mode doesn't turn the console off. You only need to resend the payload if you turn off your console
  6. The 3 major CFWs available are ReiNX, SX OS, and Atmosphere. ReiNX and Atmosphere are very similar to each other with Atmosphere having a few unique features such as protection of AutoRCM during system updates, rebooting payloads/CFW without resending the payload via USB, and general stability. SX OS is the only paid for CFW of the group having exclusive features such as .XCI loading, HDD support, EmuNAND, and their own cheat engine. However some of those features can be found in other CFW in a similar implementation. You can install .NSP files via USB, utilize cheats with sys-net cheat, and install .XCI files
  7. Not necessarily
