I don't think you need the DLC (it's used for loading times, I believe), but I can tell you: put XCX on your internal or get a HDD; you'll thank me later.
I have breath of the wild taking up my whole system and i have a 32gb usb i can install it on but i don't have a big enough sd :( there is no smaller usb/wup i can get? cause 20gb is crazy

Every download for Xenoblade X is 20GB, it's just how big the game is. The digital version doesn't have the fast loading packs, so that 20GB is just the base game, and we probably can't do anything about it.

I think the disc rip is 16gb? Even if it isn't, you may not want to put a game like XCX on USB/SD--long story short, too many read/writes will corrupt your USB/SD, corrupt your data, force you to format, etc,.

Games like NSMBU are fine for SD.
------
Heads-up: if you care about your save data for XCX, make backups.

I second that, considering an SD or flash drive can be corrupted by simpler Wii games, Xenoblade X would probably kill it pretty quickly considering the physical version comes with a download.

splash on my USB

Yeah, but they aren't demanding like XCX or BotW.

I can tell you from personal experience, BotW WILL kill your USB before you can finish the game (no cheats!).

Apologies, took that out of context. I'm trying to assist anothre member with Wii U problems, as well. Hold a sec & I'm guessing you're telling the truth about living in the USA.

I can confirm that playing an original XBX disc while having the loading speed improving DLC on a 128GB USB Sandisk flash drive killed the flash drive. It was sad.

PS: circa a millennium ago.

PS: always worked fine on my 320GB off-brand sata HDD on a fifth-party usb case, though.

I can't say "yes" with 100% certainty, but I can tell you that you're paying around $28.00 for a 160GB HDD with a cable, but for about the same price, you can get a 320GB HDD with a cable--I haven't noticed too much of a performance drop between 2.0 and 3.0, but I can tell you Bayonetta 2 might stutter on occasion, but usually only during cut-scenes.

@Technicmaster0
Maybe yeah, but probably no....I mean...if OP were to take your advice, how would there be any space left for the 11GB DLC? I mean surely, you aren't so cruel as to tell OP to take both our advice!?!

Clearly, for certain scientific reasons, I feel that we should just say we did your idea....but not actually do your idea. For science reasons.

Who needs DLC? :D
I just wanted to throw that idea into the discussion because it's actually a valid option for some people with the current prices.

Nah, we wants DLC! See below

I've had my games running off a flash drive since I got my Wii U and it still works

Well, how rare, a meme that can apply twice--hows that for recycling!

Seriously, that's amazing....I probably should have used a Will Ferrel meme.
