Right now it looks like my TP-Link TL-SG1024DE is on the fritz as it keeps causing issues when testing with ping e.g. packet loss and/or fluctuating time (e.g. going from 14ms to 50ms).

I'm currently looking around to see if there is any possible alternatives, which has:
24 port gigabit Ethernet
managed
silent (or near silent)
Link Aggregation (LAG/LACP) support

On recommendation elsewhere, I did look at a HP V1910-24G for £35 on ebay but it turned out to have fans and I remember last time trying to find a silent one was a pain (main reason I ended up with this one).

Does anyone have any recommended Switch brands or lines/models to look out for, I'm currently looking at ebay where I regularly see used 'enterprise' ones for around £30-60.

Thank you.

That is gonna be hard most enterprise level switch has fan in them. Depends on how you want the cli, cause procurve command line is shitty compare to Cisco.

I’ve also looked into alternative options which involve replacing the fans, some ended up more expensive than the actual switch.

That said, I’ve managed to have a look at my current switch and I think I may have ‘fixed’ the issue (turns out a feature doesn’t work as advertised), although I do still intend on replacing it some day.

You want a managed 24 port fanless switch of some quality for pocket change? Let me know if you pull that one off.

If I have to dip into the managed world (switches for the most part these days are unmanaged if I am playing, those that are managed tend to be more "make it happen" scenarios) then there are some options. Fanless/silent is also hard -- daisy chain a few together tending to be the easier option but you can get it done.

I would look to see if you find some juniper gear -- they have not quite dethroned Cisco yet but are probably the main choice of those that can't be bothered to play Cisco's games.

In this case the Juniper Ex2200 family, though letters mean things so be aware if searching (they do the whole software crippled thing, though not half as badly as a lot of other enterprise type stuff). Refurb prices I am seeing from an ultra casual search start around £150. If you do want teaming type things then 802.3ad is apparently supported in the specs sheet I just grabbed, not had much cause to test it for speed but their redundancy options aren't too bad.

I figured I'd ask around since there may always be some brand/model which someone else finds ok, for example, I wouldn't have considered juniper.

I also only ever expected something second hand on e.g. ebay, if anything and I only gave £60 as a guideline based on what I've seen when browsing ebay casually in the past.

Anyone know what Netgear's Switchs are like? I see their GS724T v4 second hand within budget.
