Hey guys,

After some assistance - I missed this Wii U around a year or so ago and for the life of me I can’t really remember how I did it. I have a 1TB drive attached that has a bunch of games installed to it.

It was all working fine but now seems to not want to boot properly. I actually wanted to give it to my younger brother as I don’t use it but I can’t seem to get it to work?

I’ve posted screenshots of what happens when I boot the system, it loads to the menu with the various ‘homebrew options’. How can I just get it to boot direct into the Wii U menu with all games etc. I’d like to make it as ‘fool proof’ as possible for him.

Also, is this system safe to play games online or would my brother get banned? Please let me know if you need more info.

The CBHC hack is not a safe one to give to someone who doesn't know what they are doing with it. If he removes your NNID from the console to put his own in or ever tried a restore factory settings or somehow deleted the DS game used in the hack he'd brick the console.

Thank you, I’ll try that now.

Okay, thank you for the update. I think I have already removed my Nintendo account from the console?

Can I easily change to a ‘safer hack’?

Hmm, odd. I've only ever read about the problems with CBHC as for obvious reasons, it's not something I wanted to test. The idea is that CBHC uses a legitimately bought NDS game from the estore as part of itself. Without the NNID of the account that bought it, it loses its license.

It's possible that it will only brick if another NNID is added. Or if the console connects online again after the removal. Honestly at this point I'd wait for someone with more experience than me to show up and offer advice, honestly you could be one wrong thing away from a brick.

Assuming in it's current state it is safe to uninstall CBHC(coldboot haxchi), which I wouldn't try atm without getting the all clear from someone with more experience there is a safer hack that is just haxchi. The difference is every time you turn off the console you have to press an icon on the main screen and wait around 10 seconds for the hack to be active again.
