idk if anyone has noticed this or reported this but i was checking my catalog in the game as i was doing some of gracies fashion checks and i noticed that there are some piece of clothings, items, wallpapers and floorings that appear as ???. it shows what im assuming the item should be but the name is ???, it says not for sale and i think the image that is a duplicate. i also noticed that after using the fill catalog cheat the music and paper doesnt get filled up. i tried the cheat again just to make sure it wasnt me forgetting to do it when i restarted my game but it still doesnt fill those two. i thought maybe it was something with the checksums.. but anyways, maybe is there a way to fix it?
1) It's technically fixable.
2) A thing to note is the game doesn't store catalog, encyclopedia, etc separately. It's actually just one big bit field, so I assume that the save editor is missing out on the music and wallpaper in that (which it is, I noticed it myself a few weeks ago).
3) The ??? are actually items that were scrapped. The devs then just copied over an existing model to the item and removed the name, which is why it has the ??? and looks like it's a duplicate to other items.

Hopefully that clears something up :)

Both are related to the same. I'm still working on getting a legit catalog on my savegame, both bugs will be fixed as soon as I'm done with it. But I can't promise when it will be done.

Are you playing ACNL or ACNLWA?

Both are related to the same. I'm still working on getting a legit catalog on my savegame, both bugs will be fixed as soon as I'm done with it. But I can't promise when it will be done.

Are you playing ACNL or ACNLWA?

I have the ACNL cartridge but i have the WA update. I just thought it was weird because I remember clearly having the music and the papers fill up whenever I did the fill catalog cheat and I had never seen it do the ??? On some items. But thank you for looking into it, I’ll be waiting.

I seem to be having an issue with placing public works projects via the save editor. For some reason, whenever I go to place or edit something (such as changing a hammock into a bench, for example) it won't appear in my game. The structure will show up in the save editor just fine, but when I load the game there's nothing in the spot where it's supposed to be.
This is a recent problem, as I've been able to change and place PWPs just fine in the past. I'm running my system on the 11.8 update, and everything else in the save editor works just fine except for the placement/changing of public works projects. I'm becoming increasingly frustrated as I've tried to troubleshoot the problem (saving and loading, removing the PWP and injecting the save, loading the game and saving, then opening it again in the editor and placing the PWP). All have yielded the same results. I have less than 30 projects in my town and don't know what would be causing this problem.

Are you sure you ar injecting the proper garden.dat file thats been changed to have the pwp things ya want?

Yep! This has been an ongoing thing for a while and I don't know what caused it. However, a kind soul on Reddit has offered to take a look at my save and manually hex edit it as they believe they know what the issue is. I'll report back later with the findings. This fluke seems to be something that popped up randomly.

The homebrew launcher etc. is working fine and i can use your editor as well, but when i try to import my new edited town, it creates a new (unedited) town, and i have to start over again from the beginning. I checked everything at least 4 times and i checked if the garden_plus.dat was named correctly. Can you help me please? (i have the new 2DS XL, 11.9.0-42 Europe) btw, sorry for my english

I feel other people already reported this, but does anyone have a solution to villagers retaining letters/memories of a villager that they've replaced? And also, is there a way to manually add a 10th villager (for example) if I only have 9, or do I have to wait for someone to move in?

How do I know which path pattern I'm putting down? I already know it has something to do with changing the flags and stuff but I don't know which flags I need to choose in order to get a certain one like the left side of the path, right side, etc. I currently have different path patterns already laid out on my map though I'm still getting confused about which flags they are... How come it says 03 but the down menu says 1-4 for that specific pattern I've circled?

If I move my friendX.dat file to the newly hacked save file, will my BF list still be there? I’m having this problem where whenever I edit my save data, I have to re-add my friends to my BF list.

I usually only extract and import only the garden_plus.dat file, that's enough to edit your town. I'm not sure how this is behaving online wise as I only play locally and have no friends.

If I move my friendX.dat file to the newly hacked save file, will my BF list still be there? I’m having this problem where whenever I edit my save data, I have to re-add my friends to my BF list.

I used to have this problem too. I was told this happens when you edit certain things, such as the color of the train station or town hall. When I stopped editing those I no longer had to re-add anyone to the best friend list.

When I look around town I don’t see his house anywhere and I don’t see his name on the list! I saved again, trashed the previous saves, and then tried to kick marshal outs by putting him in boxes, but I don’t think he left and it’s saying my town is full when I talk to a camper about moving in! I can’t put in an older save because that one had the marshal problem on it too (I time traveled and went back to Acnl save editor distort many times) please help!

Every time you save your town in-game, it creates a new "secure Value" which has to match in your garden(_plus).dat file.

If you have the "Orginal save file" you can revert to that. to do so you need to do the following:
  1. export your current garden(_plus).dat from your DS
  2. Load your "Orginal save file" in the online editor.
  3. Click the tad "Other" and click the pencil next to the "Secure Value"
  4. in the popup, open your "just exported garden(_plus).dat" and the editor takes the value and puts in in your old one
  5. Save the file and import it into your game.

Yeah that’s the thing, I don’t have my older saves because I trashed them and emptied the trash, so I can’t get it back unless I use a recovery app or something :(

I’m having the same problem, except my backup is just the same thing with some less furniture :( how do you fix it???
