I have bought a jig for booting into rcm. The jig itslef seems to work as it looks to me, but unfortunately, tegrarcmgui does not recognize any rcm.
Here is the behaviour:

- inserting the jig into the right joy-con rail
- holding volume up and power
- The nintendo logo DOES NOT show up (youtube tutorials show, that it should not show up, so everything fine so far)
- On my pc: starting tegrarcmgui (drivers are already installed)
- connecting switch and pc via usb: the payload tab still says: no rcm

tl;dr:
nintendo logo does not show up when booting with volup+power, but tegrarcmgui says no rcm.

What could be the reason for this? My switch is a release day switch (3.3.2017). My firmware: 5.1.0
Could it be, that the jig does not work properly? I thougt, it should work, if the nintendo logo does not show up. Or isnt this a safe hint for a working jig?

What Cable do you use? (I use one from my Switch joypad ... no problem so far)
What Windows Version do you use? (I use Linux and a Browser)
Can you connect the Switch to another PC?

Try every other USB ports on the computer. It could also be the cable, as mentioned. If you have other means of injecting the payload, like NS Atmosphere injector or even a Raspberry PI, try them also.

Strange.. I am doing a nand backup right now. I was on about 41% when i left my room. After about 20 minutes, I came back and the backup was at 16%.
My SD card is empty, 64GB size, formatted in exFAT.

I am doing "Backup eMMC RAW GPP".

What's that supposed to mean?

Did the backup fail and it tries again automatically? Or is it possible, that the backup was successful and it waited for an action in order to end it, otherwise it makes the backup again?

There should be a folder named "backup" or a strange number like "f20309" or something similar. There inside is your backup (IF you did it with HEKATE What you SHOULD USE!)

And please give as MUCH informations as you could be.....i only like riddles in Games ;)

I am doing it as in this guide here: https://guide.sdsetup.com/#/safetyprecautions
So the backup is done with hekate. I cannot say, whats on the sd, the backup is still running. It is at 70% right now. I will wait until it is ready, maybe something went wrong the first time and it is retrying the backup.

But another question:
I do not want to install cfw right now (not yet, but I would like to do some of those fancy things in the future). I only wanted to backup my nand, right before updating my switch and playing online.
Will it be safe to update my switch via ninty servers and play online right after the "Step 1: Backing up your NAND and BIS keys" of that link above? (The only things I will have done, is injecting hekate and injecting biskeys, I did not use any other cfw stuff, yet).

Or will I have to do anything else before (maybe like restoring the nand?), because the injects of biskeys and hekate leave some cfw traces on my switch?

Nope when you update the Switch online there will be "Burned Fuses" so the Backup you are doing now will be a little problem (Sleep Mode maybe).
But with the new versions of Atmosphere and ReiNX it shouldn't be a problem (not sure about ReiNX).
Anyway you should make ANOTHER backup AFTER you are on 6.2.0 update from Ninti!
Then you are mostly safe ;)

Which other option do I have, if I would like to play online? ChoiDuJourNX would update my switch without burning fuses, but wouldnt this be more dangerous for me, if I want to play online?
I would have to use cfw to make an update with ChoiDuJourNX. And this leaves cfw traces, which should be more dangerous for me, isnt it?

I made a nand backup on my 4.1 switch, then i booted atmosphere and updated to 6.2 with Choi. After this i rebooted into hekate and chose „boot ofw“.
I did this on the release day of super smash and i didnt get bannef until now.
As long as you dont go online while using homebrew or with any nsp‘s installed you should be fine

So, does that mean, that my 5.1.0 NAND backup will be completely useless, when I update via ninty servers right now?
Or is there any benefit for me with this backup, although I will have fuses of 6.2?

I am a bit afraid of using cfw before going online, because I heard, that even booting ofw does not remove all traces of cfw for nintendo. Nintendo could see that traces and flag me for a future ban wave.

You can use the OLD (5.1) backup but there maybe a problem with the sleep mode of the Switch.
Not sure if it is completely fixed in the new Atmosphere.
Anyway if you want to "downgrade" to 5.1 you HAVE to use CFW because otherwise your Switch wont boot into original FW because of "burnded fuses" :(

P.S. even if you booted into CFW ones (means loaded it and started the Switch with it) you could be screwed!
There is no indication at the moment which "telemetry" data are send to Ninti and when and how they "ban" you!
