So I formatted my SD card to FAT32, but now I can't put large files onto the SD. I checked online about splitting files etc but just want to verify here that this is what I'm supposed to do with the XCI files. Is there anything else I should note or do? Thanks!

Several questions:

What is the difference between Hekate, Atmosphere, ReiNX, and SX OS? (I have the NS-Atmosphere dongle)

What are the pros and cons of each?

Which ones would you choose, and for what reason?

Is there any reason to update, or to not update to 6.2 or any other official firmware version? (I have one that is 4.1.0, and another that is 6.2.0)

similar question to this but for nsp's, was thinking to format to exFat or to NTFS but is there another way to install a 13 gb file without needing to transfer to sd or am I going to need to format or split files if that works for nsp's?

Hello,

Bought a switch, made a jig to check if i could softmod it and the result was 0x0000, so no softmodding for me at this point.

I have some questions:

1) Does this meen that there is no way to mod my switch, or is it still possible with a modchip?
2) If i buy a second switch wich will be mod_able, is it possible to play games, wich are hosted on my hackable, through direct link or lan, or need both switches been hacked for this? (i try to be sure if i have benefits in having 2 switches, will use one for online things and another for offline things)

Thanks for listening, and double thanks to the one that can answer my questions

Im a little confused about the types of bans. There is the normal ban that wont let me play online but it WOULD let me download updates and then theres the super ban that wont let me do neither, right?

So what if i get banned cause i have nsp or whatever in my Switch, what type of ban would i get? Do we now how to get any of them?

For .XCI files, the only way to put them on a FAT32 SD card is by splitting them. There is no way to install/load them via USB like .NSP files although SX OS does offer HDD support for .XCI files.

You can use USB install with Tinfoil.

Atmosphere, ReiNX, and SX OS are all CFW and Hekate is a bootloader so its the odd man out. In terms of differences, SX OS is the only one with EmuNAND support (currently), its own cheat engine, and .XCI loading. Atmosphere and ReiNX are very similar to each other right now but Atmosphere does offer a few advantages over ReiNX such as protection of AutoRCM during system updates, creport to prevent error codes from being saved to the NAND (which doesn't come with ReiNX but can be used), and slightly faster boot times. ReiNX however is on the verge of adding a lot of SX OS' features to it so eventually ReiNX will become the free version of SX OS which will make it arguably the best CFW.

Firmware is largely irrelevant on the Switch, at least not extremely new firmwares, but fuses are more important. Fuses dictate what firmware you can load since they are designed to prevent downgrades. This is accomplished by having the Switch check the fuses with the firmware. If the fuses are lower than the firmware, it will burn fuses until they match. If the fuses are higher, the console will refuse to boot. There are ways to update the firmware without burning fuses and that is with the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX. It does this by enabling AutoRCM. It can install any firmware, even 6.2, which all CFW now support.

Any hacked Switch can play online but of course, you risk a ban in doing so. And people have been banned for pretty much everything.

  1. All CFW and modchips use the same exploit which is Fusee Gelee which is the exploit that is patched on the newer units
  2. A hacked console is no different from an unhacked console, especially when it comes to playing games. The only difference comes when you are tunneling LAN play via Xlink Kai or Switch LAN Play. Those only support games that have a built-in LAN mode. However there is a custom kip that can convert local wireless to LAN which obviously you need a hacked console to utilize

Unless you're modded your Joy-Con to bridge pins 9 & 10 together, there are no issues.
Hi, I wanted to convert some xci but im using my keys on it. Can other people install and use it too on their NSW
The short answer is yes.

The long answer is keys used for conversion of .XCI files and most other tasks are shared across all consoles. The only console-specific keys are the biskeys whose purpose is for decrypting the NAND with hacdiskmount. The reasons users are instructed to dump the keys themselves is because one, that way is legal unlike providing the keys themselves which you can't do due to copyright, and two, telling users to Google/look up the keys themselves isn't very efficient.

Is there any way to check if the console is banned without updating firmware?
You don't have to update the firmware. If you try loading something like the eShop and you're not banned, you'll get an error telling you to update your system. If you are banned, it will give you the ban error code regardless of your firmware.

So i've updated 5.1 -> 6.1 with ChoiDujourNX without carrying about fuses. I have backup from 5.1 and sx os. Can I restore this backup without any issues? I have an error "checking whether this software can be played" and can't play any .nsp games.

Yes you can just restore your NAND backup. Make sure you are restoring boot0/boot1 and eMMC raw GPP as boot0/boot1 are also firmware-specific.
