Hey guys I'm trying to install 5.1.0 via Xbins and ChoiDujourNX keeps giving me the following error: "Missing 5 out 205 required NCAs, cannot install firmware '5.1.0'" - I tried 3 different firmware dumps and it keeps giving me this error. I am using a Fat32 Samsung 256 GB SD card if that makes a difference. I tried my 32GB Sandisk Fat32 card and same error. I also tried FW 6.0 and 6.1 (via Xbins) and they both say missing files. FW 6.1 says missing 1 file. I tried regular and with exfat and they both say missing required NCAs. Can anyone please help? I couldn't find a solution for this after searching.

If anyone else has this issue - I fixed it thanks to Boogieboo6!

In my example I will use FW 6.1 since I went from 5.0.2 to 6.1.0 via SX OS 2.3 with Auto RCM enabled via SX OS.

***I recommend you make a backup before doing this: You never know!***

1) Download the 6.1.0 file update 3 times from the same source and named each archive "6.1a", "6.1b", "6.1c"
2) Make a folder titled "Firmware" in the root of your SD Card
3) Create a folder titled "FW 6.1" inside of the "Firmware" folder
4) In the "FW 6.1" folder; create 3 sub folders:
a) 6.1a
b) 6.1b
c) 6.1c
5) Extract the full contents of each archive you downloaded earlier to each respective folder
6) Boot up ChoiDujourNX and select the "FW 6.1" folder as the source folder
7) After that ChoiDujourNX should find all the required NCA files
8) Follow the on screen instructions and continue to update your firmware

**If the above doesn't work, you can try to FTP the FW files to your switch. Link2811 (below) transfered the FW files via FTP and it worked!

Note: For SX OS users that might be confused regarding the Auto RCM being enabled etc... I am using SX OS 2.3 with Auto RCM enabled via SX OS and it installed fine. When ChoiDujourNX has the waiting screen to reboot, I plugged in my USB cable to my phone (for payload injection) and switch and held the volume up button. Then I selected reboot now while holding the volume up button and it booted to the SX OS menu and from there you can select to boot custom firmware.

I hope this helps and a big thanks to Boogieboo6 and the other guys who initially helped me in my other thread regarding SX OS Auto RCM compatibility with ChoiDujourNX.

Cheers!

Is your sd card reader broken?
I really doubt that somebody else has this problem.

There are people with the same problem, that's how I figured out how to fix my issue.

The reader is not the issue neither are the cards. The card I'm using is a Samsung EVO 256GB Fat32 - only a month old and never had issues with it. In addition to Boogieboo6 I found a guy on reddit who had the same issue and he created 2 folders instead of 3.

Boogieboo6 posted his issue in the "ChoiDujourNX - a system firmware installer homebrew for the Nintendo Switch" thread and I used his method which fixed it for me.

It is a rare problem but there are people who encountered it. I doubt it's an SD card reader or SD card issue since I used multiple cards and so has Boogieboo6, it's not the FW source either since we both used multiple sources and I used xbins, also same with me, this issue happened with all firmware version updates and it happened on exfat option too. I suspect it's a rare bug in ChoiDujourNX - I haven't tried the manual route via ChoiDujour.

I'm having a problem with ChoiDujourNX. There are always files missing, no matter what. I've tried multiple SD cards, different sources, and different updates. Does anybody have any advice? Thanks!

I fixed my problem! I downloaded the update 3 times and extracted them all to unique folders in one big folder on my sd card. The program looked through the first folder, was missing some files, looked through the second, and found some more, and found the rest in the last one!

its not a sdcard reader problem. try using another SDcard.
you just need a clean sdcard.

format the sdcard using windows, use defaults configs format and just copy Kosmos v11.7 ,ChoiDujuorNX and your Firmware 6.2.0 files to your sdcard.

-just power off your nintendo switch,
-extract your sdcard (the one that contains your games and your homebrew stuff)
- insert the new one with the new files.
-put your switch on RCM mode
-start your switch using TegraRcmGUI with the fusee-primary.bin payload (Atmospehre 0.8.2 )
-go to albums and choose ChoiDojourNX to update your switch.
-choose exfat compatibility
-enable AutoRCM to prevent burning fuses.(optional)
-After the update, turn off your switch ,extract the sd.
-Update your old SDfiles with Kosmos v11.7. (do this if your old sdcard not contains the new atmosphere 0.8.2)
-insert your old sdcard ,put your switch on RCM mode and use TegraRcmGUI with the fusee-primary.bin payload to start your switch.
(If you choose AutoRCM just press the power button to put your switch on RCM mode)

sorry for my english

Thanks for the input, the more methods the better for people who encounter this issue.

From my experience with this issue, I did what you mentioned (I use Kosmos) with multiple SD cards and formatted them and used different sd card readers. I used Hekate, Reinx etc... still same issue until I did what I posted above. Also, I didn't need exfat so that should be optional in your instructions, just an FYI.

This is a rare problem and I'm not the type of person to post on a forum for help once I encounter an issue. I search and search for hours upon hours and try different methods and when I am at a complete dead end, that's when I post for help. (I don't like to be lazy and just ask for help and I learn in the process while I research etc...)

What computer are you using? I don't know if this is a related problem, but I absolutely can not update the firmware with a Mac. The files do not unzip correctly. Does anyone know a special way to do this on a Mac? Both times I had to extract the zip file and copy over the files using Windows.

I'm not a Mac user (Windows 10) but I do have a Mac laptop I can use to see if I can recreate the problem. Based on your description, it seems to me that something is wrong with your ZIP/Rar program since you say they do not unzip properly or it can be corrupt archive. Can you tell us which software you are using for to extract the files and what is the exact error code/description when you try to unpack the the files? The more information the better!

This is what I would try if I had the same issue:
1) You can try to FTP the files to your switch sd card but I doubt this will work since it seems like you have a corrupt archive or your zip/rar program is not functioning properly
2) Try using a different Zip/Rar program and see if the error persists
3) If the above doesn't work - Try a different source for your FW update files (i.e. Auto Xbins)
4) You can try to run Windows OS virtually in your Mac using Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion, or VirtualBox etc... and then transfer the files to your micro sd card (not sure if you can do this with virtual windows; I'm not too familiar with Mac)
5) If you have an Android phone, you can download the FW update files via your phone and unzip them in your phone (7z, winrar etc...) and then transfer them to your Mac and then to your Nintendo Switch micro sd card
6) A faster method, assuming you have an android phone, you can insert your Nintendo Switch micro sd card in your android phone (assuming your phone has a micro sd slot) and extract the FW files to the Nintendo Switch micro sd card that's inserted in your phone - be careful in case the phone doesn't recognize the micro sd card and tries to format
the sd card - MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR SD CARD IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO IT THIS WAY!!! (I'm not even sure the phone would detect the micro sd card but I'm 99.99% sure it will - nothing special with formatting Fat32 or ex-Fat which shouldn't be an issue)
7) You can upload the rar/zip file to Google Drive and you should be able to open the rar/zip file via Google Drive 3rd party app and then you can download the files from the rar/zip in Google Drive to your Mac (I haven't tried this method but it should work)
8) If none of the above steps work, I would extract the files via web browser for free as a last resort due to having to download each file manually from the archive. A good site to use is https://www.extract.me/ - the only issue with this method is that you have to select and download each file manually. Thankfully there aren't frequent FW updates! - If this is the method that works, I would save these files somewhere on your Mac, google drive etc... so you don't have to repeat this process in case you ever need these files again! Just a heads up, I wouldn't use sites like this for sensitive files since the site can possibly store the archives you upload.

Good luck and please let us know which method, if any, worked for you!

Had the exact same issue as OP. His solution worked for me. Thanks!

Glad to hear it helped!

yesterday i update via that coirdejour program works perfect for me ! from 5.1 to 6.2 sx os 2.5
chek your sd card ,dont know if i can post the update files here but that website worked for me let me post a guide i used !
it has all the info you need
https://www.codedonut.com/switch-ha...ChoiDujourNX_allows_banned_consoles_to_update

Thanks for the input - this is a rare and unknown bug - the people who had this issue such as myself, have exhausted probably all options including multiple sd cards etc...

Also, I would definitely not post links to update files - from my understanding the updates are copyrighted and will get you banned. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Happy holidays!

I hope this helps and a big thanks to Boogieboo6 and the other guys who initially helped me in my other thread regarding SX OS Auto RCM compatibility with ChoiDujourNX.

Cheers!

Why is it that it needs to be merged with 3 different folders of the same firmware?

Honestly no clue but I know that's what made it work for me and others. I haven't been keeping up with the scene at all so maybe it's been fixed. Doesn't hurt to try this if you're having issues.

The uploader splited firmware files to 3 parts. The reason maybe they have slow internet or else
Nope. The firmware files were downloaded from Xbins. You can download it once and do it to 3 separate folders but I didn't want to waste time so downloaded it 3 times just in case to make it work in one go.

It is a rare instance and most of the users never had this issue but for the few that did, this seemed to fix it.

I am trying to dump 9.0 but it shows 210 files and according to CHOI it must be 213... dont know if the Firmware dumper im using doesnt work or what.

When i put 8.1.0 and 9.0 folder under the firmware folder... it shows all 216 files were found and firmware can be installed.... and im not sure if mixing 8 and 9 is a good idea, any input?
