It may sound like a weird question. If I had a wii U I would have tested it out, but I'm waiting till the 26th to obtain mine. Anyway so Wii U USB Helper works fine as long as I keep my eye on it everytime it passes off a partially downloaded game as complete. However, the program takes literal hours to download a 1 gb game (Super Mario 3D World) and I go to look at the files, and there most of these app files that are all calculated in KiloBites or whatever KB are. Most of them 1 or 2 kb literally, some are over 10k. What are these files?

Without getting too deep, it downloads all of the content listed on the eShop server for that specific title. Every game has multiple "Titles", one for containing the game, one for updates and one for DLC where applicable.

After downloading you end up with a folder of content for each title, each containing game content, a ticket and a few other things, you copy this folder to the SD card and install it with WUP Installer GX2.

So basically, you are downloading the game.
I think you knew that already.

In the archives folder just a few files ends in KB, all the others like 0000001.app 0000002.h3 0000003.app 0000003.h3 etc, usually will be in MB or even GB (depending on the game of course)... i don´t use Wii U USB Helper since the service died, but some people like you still using it, and personally i don´t know how. Maybe after Wii U USB helper died and you configure it again to still using it, is when you start getting partially game downloads.

Wii U USB Helper is just a frontend from downloading from Nintendo's eShop server. They plugged the security hole that allows downloading from the eShop CDN for 3DS games, but all Wii U games are still unsecured (because they'd need to update the Wii U to fix the security problem) and are all downloadable no problem.

You probably aren't getting partial downloads and if you are, you can always learn how to use a command line script like FunKiiU instead, which is what I use.

There's a workaround on reddit to still use it https://www.reddit.com/r/CemuPiracy/comments/8gj8z8/workaround_download_and_run_wii_u_usb_helper/

Also I'm betting his files are fine I've downloaded many games using the workaround and they're all complete.

As far as games taking hours to download that's gotta be something with your internet connection I've never had that issue.

Its not that I'm assuming they arn't complete, but it just looks so small. Something like breath of the wild looks so small and can be moved anywhere on the pc in barely a second. I haven't yet tried it on an sd card yet, mainly because I haven't found an adapter, i use micro sd cards a lot. (the pic is essentially all the files on repeat. Are they compressed? I assume they are)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

But I looked at all the files in each game, they all end in kb. I'll have to test it when I get a wii U I guess

Nah the files are just right. As JustinCredible said, 93,000 Kb (which is close to 100 mb) x 9 is almost a gig, (and that´s only counting the files that you show to us in the pic)... everything is fine.

I have my wii u now, and yes everything works just fine, thanks for the help. Also sorry for taking so long to respond. :D

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I had no idea this still worked/was active as I never used it when it was around but heard it was discontinued for "reasons".

Who got that tut?
There's a workaround, I don't have the link on me at the time, but it's not hard to find, its on reddit.

would anyone here consider themselves an expert with nintendo Wii U or Wii U USB Helper?

I did a fresh install of Wii U USB Helper on a new laptop to see if I could get it running to read downloaded games updates and dlc without ever connecting to the internet by copying over the USB_HELPER and Hikari06 folders from appdata and placing them on my laptop, I got Wii U USB Helper to load up and display all the games updates and DLC on my 8TB external so once nintendo pulls the eshop server, should still be able to use Wii U USB Helper, but I was running into the problem of not being able to extract my games from NUS to raw game data in order to play them on Cemu. Any reason in particular why Loadiine would be required to connect to the internet just to decrypt the NUS content files? that was the entire reason why I was trying to get Wii U USB Helper up and running without requiring the need to connect to a title key URL, since those depend on downloading the games updates and dlc directly from nintendo's servers, so that won't be a reliable method once the Wii U eshop is pulled like the Wii.
