If you download them through the switch, it autosplits the files as it installs them. If you are talking about xci/nsp files, there are scripts to split them for you
True. It had me to try different cables and tinkering to make it work. Suddenly, it just works now.
Sounds like you are using a bad sd card, a counterfeit sd card, or user error if you are using homebrew.

It does, but they didnt mean for it to be used with homebrew. Most people who only play backups dont seem to have any issues.

Yeah, use Zadig to replace the libComms or whatever it's called driver to a generic one.
Another *very* important thing: if you happen to be installing .nsp files with special or foreign characters (for example something with á in the file name, or something with Japanese characters in the file name), or with very long file names, it WILL crash the Switch when installing via Tinfoil
Yeah so remember to "BUY" the game and change the letters to like Mario game Update or just Mario game "if its a mario game.."

ah i found the solution you have to update to something im not sure where the cut off is but i updated to 6.2 and it showed up
