Most "problems" should be fixed by launching pPlay from an homebrew loader installed as an nsp, as stated in the readme an multiple post here! Tomorrow I'll release a new version with a few fixes, I'll take a look if I can (legally) build an nsp too.
I know i know it works and that most of the problems regard to the people who didnt read the posts, what i mean is that maybe it is too soon for asking you for thousands of new features (most of them repeated over the posts). Just asking for a little patience.

Both with nro or forwarder, pplay make my switch freeze.
I had to fully power-off by pressing the power button.

I tried Sword Art Online Alicization 10.mkv and Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken 12.mkv, both are 1080p.

Edit: Same with 720p videos of 30s duration.

Set buffer to low

Hey guys, I know this is kind of an unpopular question but would it be possible to backport this homebrew to the Wii U once it's released? AFAIK, the Wii U never got a Video Player homebrew so this would be super appreciated. I'm asking this because it should be fairly easy to do so along with the use of:
Appstorenx
https://www.reddit.com/r/WiiUHacks/comments/9h03r7/sneak_peek_backporting_switch_homebrew_to_wii_u/
Maybe it is a little offtopic, i own a wii u too and as you say there wasnt a media player per se for the wii u, but going through the wii homebrew (on the wii channel) there was a kickass apk: Wii media center (WMC), and it worked as well as for the wii original console: cd, mkv, mp4, music, even online radio from the net, external disk or the sd card.
We have to open the wii system before accesing the wii homebrew but it was what i used to do.

It could do with sleep removing that can get a bit annoying wiggling your controller to get the screen could do with a sound boost if possible apart from that excellent.

Seems your the only one in this situation. I need more info about your setup/config/fw/etc..

Just tried it with the nsp forwarder and I must say it's a great job!
The controls are intuitive and cleverly implemented.
For starters "buffer must be set to low", mine was at medium and it would always crash the Switch.
It struggles with high res videos (mostly sound issues)

It was able to play perfectly video with these specs:

Video 1.mp4
Video: h264 @ 1647 kbs, 1280x720
Audio: aac @ 125 kbs, 44100 hz

Video 2.mp4
Video: h264 @ 675 kbs, 1280x720
Audio: aac @ 125 kbs, 44100 hz

It had sound issues (cuts off occasionally) with this one:

Video 3.mp4
Video: h264 @ 21312 kbs, 1920x1080
Audio: aac @ 253 kbs, 44100 hz

Once more kudos to you @cpasjuste ! The level of polish that goes into your homebrews is amazing.

Suggestions if I may:
- Scrub function
- Skip with dpad (or L&R)
- Play next/previous with ZR&ZL
- Indication of seconds skipped near the buttons (5/10 secs?)
- Video pause upon pressing home button
- Last folder saved
- Ability to delete video files

Bugs:
- Locking/unlocking the Switch causes the sound to stutter (luckily stopping and resuming the video fixes it)
The device should not crash when using an HBL forwarder and very high buffer isn't it? (It will help a lot with > 720p videos).

So I've changed the .cfg's network part to "localhost:xxxx" but it always seems to fail no matter what. Any ideas about this?

Same here.

localhost? Why would you guys point a network path to the Switch itself?
Localhost means, something on the device itself is hosting stuff which I doubt in case of the Switch.

On behalf of my ancestors, I apologise for being such an idiot

I'm probably still doing it wrong, but even after using the proper address and port, it still fails to connect

Is there a reason why you're not using hardware video acceleration? Nvidia Tegra X1 can easily run 4K 60fps video in HDR even with HEVC/h.265 encoding.

Do you have two computers in your network? If yes, try accessing that IP and PORT from another computer to see if it works.
Tried it on two other devices and it didn't work. My guess is that it's a port/port forwarding issue

I found it works at its optimum level creating its own forwarder soon as I did that it worked perfect. I put the nro on the route of the sd card and path the forwarder to that seems a lot better this way than in folders.

FYI: Won’t work as a full nsp before anyone try’s to build one.
