Oh shoot, I forgot ChoiDujour doesn't support firmware 6.2. Then your options for not burning fuses are the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX or rebooting into RCM with your jig after installing the update online.
I see :( but the good thing is, I now know more about the whole stuff :) Do you think AutoRCM will be available for 5.1.0?!
ChoiDuJourNX version will be detected by nintendo right? :) because I do have then already a homebrew on my console.

AutoRCM works on all firmwares much like the exploit (unless Nintendo rewrites boot0 from scratch or something). And a rule of thumb is all CFW and homebrew are detectable by Nintendo.

ah ok :) I see thanks for that.
Which is the main reason not to update to 6.2.0 (with burning fuses). What is expected? To have mode, which in which I don't net to payload the switch? how is that called again?

Hi all,

I'm currently using SX OS without Emunand but I'm planning to set it up because it's much safer so my questions are:

Which is preferred method for setting up EmuNAND? microsd as Partition vs as Files? What are the Pros and Cons?

Additionally, will my save data and installed .nsp (DLCs) be detected if I switched to Emunand? Since I've been playing and installing stuff on my sysnand for the entire time...

Thanks

So I'm on 6.2 Atmosphere. Is there a specific thread that talks about avoiding burning a fuse?
What I know so far is that booting into ofw will burn a fuse so I turned on autorcm. And that updating without choi will burn a fuse.

What are the current limitations of the new OFW 6.2, regarding the hacking scene? Where can I read about what can't I do with this version compared to other previous versions?
Why? I'm currently considering buying a used switch (Yes, I am taking into account the console serial), and it will most likely be with the latest OFW version installed.
I read that on 6.2, the switch keys cannot be extrated. So I cannot instal .XCIs, only .NSP stuff. Is this correct? What are other limitations or where can I read about them please?

you can update without choi however you need to be able to boot with RCM before the stock firmware gets a chance to load as this is what burns the fuse, is booting OFW after an update. Updating of course removes autoRCM by default so you get one chance.

Personally I recommend ChoidujourNX which is a homebrew app that runs on the switch and updates while allowing you enable autorcm automatically after the update

All CFW work on 6.2. Biskeys can be gotten with biskeydump ver 7. Tsec and fuses with hekate 4.5 and above and all other keys can be extracted with lockpick, an up to date, re-written version of kezpleznx

I started this process using a 128gb sd card. dumped the nand, backed it up to three different places and put the switch away to wrap for santa. well, somehow i lost the 128gb card and am now using a 64gb card to prepare hidden emunand. i ordered a new 128gb (20 bux, not bad). when it arrives can i clone the 64gb to the 128gb and proceed as usual? is there something stopping me from doing so? Also, Xecuter recommends the hidden partition, but theres also an option to use a folder on the sd card, what do you guys recommend

thanks

The hidden partition installation formats a part of the micro SD card to act as the NAND meaning EmuNAND will only work on that SD card, cannot be simply copied to other SD cards, but is the least detectable out of the 3 methods. When EmuNAND is installed as a file, it can be moved from SD card to SD card but because of that it is theoretically more detectable than the hidden partition. The internal memory method simply installs EmuNAND into the USER partition of the Switch which Nintendo supposedly does not check which would explain why no one has been banned thus far for using that method. Unlike the other methods, this one is SD card-agnostic meaning its not reliant on the SD card to function since its installed to the internal memory.

And one of the reasons for EmuNAND is a way to separate SysNAND from EmuNAND. If there was any sort of communication between the two, it wouldn't be a true EmuNAND solution which TX's fails to deliver on only just. Regardless of which method you use to install it, EmuNAND still involves modifying the boot1 of your console which shares the same detection as AutoRCM and since no one has been banned for only using AutoRCM, its safe to assume people won't be banned for this slight modification either.

If you're not using the hidden partition, you can just clone the 2 SD cards. But that is one of the drawbacks of the partition method; it cannot be used on multiple SD cards without making a new partition on subsequent cards. The upside is that it is less detectable than the file on the SD card which is paranoia at best since there is no evidence Nintendo scans the SD card (the Switch doesn't even check its own USER partition). Speaking of the USER partition, that is where the internal memory EmuNAND is installed which makes it relatively safe until Nintendo adds telemetry for that. And because its installed into the console, its not reliant on SD cards unlike the other 2 methods.

Anyone had luck with Tinfoil USB or Network installs, or any info on troubleshooting them?

Have installed Python 3.7 and all prereqs, but USB script immediately crashes my Switch upon folder selection and forces a reboot (from a grey Atmosphere-branded screen). And when I try to do a network install thru Boop the connection is established and file name sent but it hangs at 0% complete.

@Draxzelex

Hi,

I'm planning to setup EmuNAND as files, my question is do you still retain your previous save data and installed .nsp (DLCs/Game updates)?

Another question is, I tried starting Diablo 3 with the latest game update installed, but it asked for a system update and requires me to go online.. Is it safe to do that? (assuming I'm on Stealth mode) Additionally, if I go online does it update that comes with game (6.1.0) or the latest version which is 6.2.0?

For me, my setup was using Aluminum Foil on my computer and the pre-compiled build of Tinfoil found here.

EmuNAND is just a 1:1 copy of SysNAND, at least that's how it starts.

Also system updates are different than software updates which are game updates. The latest system firmware is 6.2. If you must update, I recommend using ChoiDujourNX to do so. In fact, ChoiDujourNX is the only way to update EmuNAND because updating online with EmuNAND presents a monumental ban risk.

so effectively i could just run emunand from internal memory and theoretically its just as "safe" as using it on the sd card? thats interesting

Hello members of GBATemp,

I have a Nintendo Switch Console with Serial XAW70017359... (Lower than XAW700178)
and a System Version of 6.2.0 (Now working with Atmosphere).

But, I plan to use a 256GB SD Card (exFAT) should I format the card with the Switch and
update in order to use exFAT to avoid enabling exFAT through ChoidujourNX. Or just do that
after installing CFW and backing up NAND?

What are pros and cons of using ReiNX vs NS Atmosphere and what is Hekate?

Last question for now at least, would you guys recommend AutoRCM? I heard some users
reporting problems. Or is using jig and dongle safer?

Thanks.

get sx os - much safer, easier, cleaner, less problematic more support and updates. any other questions?

Are you sponsoring SX OS? I far as I know they have yet to support 6.2.0, which is the System Version I have. And that does not answer all my questions, assuming that you where replying to me that is...

You must not know how to read if you think 6.2 isn’t supported . They should have a algorithm to ban people like yourself from spreading mis information and making un informed people more confused!
