so, i asked this at the team xecuter fourms but their mods seem to be extremely toxic and immediately tells me to check another topic which did not have the answer to my question in it so i guess i'll ask here.

in one topic about ofw 6.2, there was info about what was different about it and then i saw this snippet.

"If you try being sneaky and update to 6.2.0 without burning your efuses, Nintendo also prepared for that as checks have now been implemented to verify the proper efuse burns for the installed firmware version, and if the check fails, the console will stop booting leaving you in a bit of a mess."

my question is what exactly does this mean? does it mean that updating without burning fuses is impossible now? i thought that if the ofw detects the efuses are incorrect that it just burns the correct ones anyways. is this different now? is that one thing that cfws fix so these checks are not done?

Yeah what you're assuming with the OFW burning the fuses to match makes sense.

If you have a completely unmodified console then update it, the switch will burn them on next boot... An official firmware update on a clean console won't brick it so why would having unburnt fuses cause it to brick in CFW.

I know what you're saying. Unfortunately I'm not sure if the ins and outs of the checks that 6.2 makes.

You can update to 6.2.0 without burning fuses. However, you must also install AutoRCM and boot using a custom bootloader each time you coldboot your system. If you boot 6.2.0 normally without a custom bootloader, your fuses will be burnt.

pretty much what i thought. gezz everyone on those fourms are either wining about how long it takes for updates, or mods who are so far up their own asses they bitch at anyone who just wants information

Atmosphere works fine & there is nothing in the github commits for 6.2.0 that is immediately obvious as relevant to that statement.

Hi, I am about to buy Switch, and have a few questions. I am new, so I might make some mistakes.
Has the 6.2.0 Switch been hacked already? Can I install cfw on it? The serial seems to be safe (xaj70013...), but the firmware is 6.2.0...And what is the most important, probably there was no cfw previously installed on this Switch, so the fuses might be burned already. Thnx for the quick response.

Switched serveral times between firmwares (>10 times at least) and never had any issues and none of my fuses were burnt. Now sticking with 6.2.0 and atmosphere.

But probably it was done by someone in typical way by Nintendo Switch menu, that is the point. Is there any downside of this situation, once 6.2.0 has been lately hacked?
