1) there is no emu
2) pokewalkers use IR, so you'd have to make it run on either a TV remote, game boy color, 3DS, some ancient phone/laptop with IR, or make a save exploit for another HG/SS game (probably not happening).

That or the original psp 1000 had an ir receiver too, would be hilarious having a pokewalker emu on the psp...

3DS [...] or make a save exploit for another HG/SS game (probably not happening).
Due to how the 3DS infrared driver is written, you would basically need to make that an ARM9 homebrew (to exclude the official driver) and write one yourself...

Comparatively, it would be easier to write a DS/i homebrew that fits in memory and asks the user to swap cards with an IR one ;)

I believe the DSi won't let you hotswap carts, only the DS did.

You need to reset the slot-1 after a swap: officially only the launcher can do that, but all current-generation homebrew loaders allow running apps with all permissions enabled ;)
(Or you can solder together the 2 pins on the side of the slot-1, then the console will never know if the card is ejected, despite the fact they could just have checked the actual data pins as they have been doing since day one of the original DS :D)

i would be more interested in homebrew for the pokewalker.. there was attempts of people to upload custom sprites pokemon but heh.. nothing that i could use :C
i got 3 pokewalkers, 2 from the games, 1 i found in the street lol

funny interesting fact (i did read about this long time ago, my memory can be wrong):
the pokewalker rom only contains the code to receive the program (and that sad pokewalker image)
when you connect to a HGSS game it uploads everything like the menus, sprites, functions etc
