Hi everybody, I have a short question.

My Nintendo Switch is on the firmware 5.01 with SX OS. Now I wanted to format my switch completely, so that it is clean and then i wanted to update to firmware 6.2 and install the new SX OS.

How can I format my switch? I've already uninstalled AutoRCM, can I just format the switch now, or will it brick then?
Can I update my Swich via Nintendo Server to 6.2 without banning me?

Thank you in advance.

If starting on low firmware 4.1.0 Is it better to keep sysNAND on this low firmware and just update emuNAND to higher fw? I have no interest in online play just playing pirated games

Which Atmosphere files are you using?
Not sure where you heard that from but nothing damages the SoC. Linux used to cause a battery de-sync but that was fixed ages ago. Plus Hekate comes with a fix for battery de-syncs.
You can try the CLEAN UP SYSNAND portion of this tutorial but I cannot speak towards its safety nor its success.

I am just using the quick options from https://www.sdsetup.com/console?switch. Both from Atmosphere and ReiNX.

Hey all

New here and new to the switch hacking scene. I have a switch which is moddable, I have checked this via the biskeydump.bin and get the 0x7000 return code. I am looking for some advise to everything that would need to be done to get this switch hacked. I am on OFW 6.2, unfortunately didnt know the switch was hackable until after upgrading to the latest firmware.

The first think i need help with is how do i make a back-up of everything in-case things go wrong? I have been doing as much research as i can and I believe I need to use Hekate for this? What things would I need to take a back-up of? Also which format is best to use for the memory card? I have read that exFAT is probs best for this as FAT32 does not allow files bigger than 4GB, but exFAT can ruin or corrupt the memory card?

Is there any other special applications i need to install? In regards to CFW i would probs be looking to use Atmosphere or Reinx- or can you use both?

Also is it possible to update games and get the game updates after i have loaded CFW?

Any other tips/tricks?

Thanks in advance - I know its a lot of question.

ReiNX - Album to HB Menu

I would like to have R+Album take me to the HB Menu - and just Album open the Album.

Atmosphere does it with an CFW Setting app that come with the Kosmos Installer but I am unsure how to toggle this in ReiNX. Dont want kids to get in there and mess about. (i cant use Atmosphere - the Labo game keeps failing when all other xci converted nsps work fine). I currently have it removed and the HB Menu nsp installed but thats maybe even more tempting for kids...

is there a way? sorry if this has been asked before

Hey, Ho!
i´m upgrading my SD card (in the moment I´m transfering my NAND to PC with the larger one), but now the old one won´t open any homebrew anymore. I inject payloads ok, open hbmenu ok, but any HB won´t open (i´ve checked folders and files and seems to be ok). I wish to update my firmware but choixdujournx wont open, and the transfering will take a couple hours, any hints??

Also i need help i am banned when i try open xenoblade chronicles 2 it checks if the software could be played and i tried it with both wifi on and airplane on both of them try but because i am banned it does not work.
Is there some kind of fix?

Hi all i need a bit of help getting reiNX to load on my switch. i checked the serial numbers and mine is fine to hack. I have got it into RCM mode with a jig and pay loaded the 6.2 reiNX fine but doesn't show any reiNX logo and doesn't let me go into album and see the apps. I am stuck and don't know what to do. i have attached my SD card layout , followed the reiNX tutorial on the website and then just downloaded the new 6.2 ver and copied them over and used the new reiNX bin as payload.

So, now I am happily running my Switch with ReiNX, with firmware 5.1 updated using ChoiDujourNX over my original 2.3.0. I am still on Airplane mode since before upgrading, and I also have my full NAND backup done before ever running any Custom OS.

I read some recent posts and since I would like to upgrade to Switch OS 6.2 to run latest games and updates (i.e. SSBU) I am unsure on what the safest way would be. I am also tempted of moving from ReiNX to Atmosphere. Also, I read that now it would be somewhat "better" using Fat32 instead of ExFAT.

So, first question is: should I just update ReiNX files on my SD card and then maybe upgrade again with ChoiDujourNX to 6.2, and keep my ExFAT microSD and everything else?

If you think I should better change my setup, should I first restore my NAND backup, format my microSD again (btw, why is that better? and how do I manage .nsp files or other ones larger than 2 GB?) then start again as a "fresh" hack?

Also worth mentioning, when I "hacked" my Switch I absolutely forgot about the gamecard slot and then I used it with an original game after updating. So, now, I am pretty sure its firmware has been updated and I cannot go back, is that the case? How can I check if it has in fact been updated? Did I lose any chance of using a possible future exploit for a non-RCM-based hack in future running on firmware 2.3.0?

Thank you again for any answers you will provide me with, as always :)

If you don't have a clean NAND backup, you cannot completely format the console. A factory reset does not completely format the console. If you want a safe way of updating to firmware 6.2, use the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX.

Hekate is the best tool for backing up the NAND. Make sure you dump boot0/boot1 and eMMC raw GPP as these comprise your full NAND backup. If you want to save some space and don't mind losing save data as well as installed content, you can dump eMMC SYS instead of the raw GPP.

FAT32 is objectively better than exFAT since we have ways of bypassing the 4 GB limit on FAT32 but more importantly, exFAT has the chance to corrupt your SD card unlike FAT32. The only purpose of exFAT is when you are restoring the eMMC raw GPP or rawnand since it is larger than 4 GB and cannot be split when restoring.

Both Atmosphere and ReiNX come with the default homebrew applications to install backups in .NSP format. Certain packages of Atmosphere come with more useful homebrew applications such as NX-Shell (file manager).

It is possible to update games in CFW but you risk getting the console banned in doing so. Its safer to acquire the game updates in .NSP format and install them.

Don't think ReiNX supports customization of the button combo for the Homebrew Menu.

I don't believe there is a way to do that. And do you own Xenoblade Chronicles 2 legitimately? If so, you may be set as the Secondary console for the account the game belongs to. If you don't own the game, try reinstalling it.

If you want to, yes you just update the ReiNX files on your SD card with the ones from the ReiSwitched Discord Server to get 6.2 support.

The only way to check if your slot has been irreversibly updated is by reverting to a firmware below 4.0 and trying to load a retail cartridge. If it works, its not updated but if it doesn't, it has been updated.

Thanks, but the card was working like a charm on exFat format.... anyway, I´ll try to format to Fat32 and see if the problems persist.

I have tried doing the SD as a fat 32 and still nothing, it's weird it runs the payload showing its installing and then goes black and no logo for reiNX and no homebrew menu access. i'm stumped. The folder 100D is in the titles folder as well and the homebrew app is there too

I think Rei said the 6.2 build of ReiNX uses hbl.nsp instead of the 100D folder so put that in the /ReiNX folder but delete the 100D folder, keep hbmenu.nro on the root of the SD card, and try again.

If starting on low firmware 4.1.0 Is it better to keep sysNAND on this low firmware and just update emuNAND to higher fw? I have no interest in online play just playing pirated games.

What firmware is recommend for sysnand and which one for emuNAND for sx os ?
Will it not burn fuses it I stay low fw but boot into ofw by mistake?
And will the sysnand fw not affect my ability to play games that need higher fw ? Is there any functionality loss from running lower fw on sysnand?

Already answered the first question so I'm not going to repeat myself.

Since SX OS now supports 6.2, EmuNAND should be on the latest firmware as there is nothing holding it back. SysNAND can be whatever firmware you want it to be, preferably as high as the firmware your retail cartridges and games require.

You will never burn fuses if EmuNAND is running a higher firmware than SysNAND because you cannot normally boot into EmuNAND in the first place. You have to use SX Loader to boot into EmuNAND which now disables the fuse check. You will only risk burning fuses if SysNAND is running a higher firmware than the current fuse count and you are not using AutoRCM.

You only need a higher firmware for SysNAND for playing games in SysNAND. EmuNAND and SysNAND are completely separated from one another. Think of it like having 2 different Switches in one console.

Ok I prob won’t use my sysnand only if needed for better things later.
Do I not need autoCRM to prevent fuses blowing with above set up then?
Can the stable sx be used 2.0.1 on fw 6.1 to do this setup or only 2.4 beta on latest fw on emuNAND ?

Again, AutoRCM is only needed if you are running a higher firmware than your fuses on SysNAND; EmuNAND is irrelevant in this case.

As for EmuNAND, only SX OS V2.4 supports it. If you are using an earlier version, the highest firmware it can go up to is 6.1

Are you sending the new ReiNX.bin as the payload or is it on your SD card? Because the one for 6.2 has to be on the SD card, not sent as a payload.
