Running through some of the obvious:
Did you decompress the gamedata file before patching and recompress after?
Did you start a new game after patching, not using branch of fate?
Have you applied any modifications besides gay fates and the paralogue patch?

Ah so I have to decompress GameData.bin.lz too and then apply the patch? How is that done?

Use batch lz77, which can be found https://github.com/RainThunder/fefates-tools/wiki/Tools. Decompress the gamedata.bin.lz, apply the ips patch, then recompress. Each step will add some words to the file name, so after you do all of that the file should be named GameData.bin.lz.decompressed.compressed (or something similar). Just rename it to GameData.bin.lz, put it in your romfs\gamedata golder and rebuid your rom.

Can I double-patch the game, applying both the Flora Early Join patch and the Unlock All Paralogues patch, or will this cause issues?

You definitely can, it shouldn't cause any issues since you're not overwriting files but patching them instead.

Thanks so kindly! 01001001 01110100 00100111 01110011 00100000 01101110 01101001 01100011 01100101 00100000 01110100 01101111 00100000 01101101 01100101 01100101 01110100 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 00101100 00100000 01110100 01101111 01101111 00100001

Hey! This question has probably be asked and answered before, but I'm new to havking my 3DS and doing patches. I have Fates Special Edition but used the ".cia" method of just putting it on my SD card and using FBI to install it on my system. Is it possible for me to do the same thing for the mod or do I need to do more? If it helps answer my question, I followed the guide on 3ds.hacks.guide exactly.

If you've got the gay hack itself working, the patching should be easy.

Lets try the unlock paralogues patch, because that requires fewer steps:
1. Decompress the GameData.bin.lz with batch lz77. This should create a new file named GameData.bin.lz.decompressed
2. Apply the ips patch to the decompressed gamedata file.
3. Compress the decompressed gamedata file with batch lz77. This should create a new file named GameData,bin.lz.decompressed.compressed
4. Rename your patched gamedata file to GameData.bin.lz and put it in your romfs folder, replacing the unpatched gamedata file.

If this works, the flora patch is the same process plus adding the other folders to your romfs folder as explained before.

Finally someone that explained how to apply the patch. Thanks a lot!

If you have luma or some other way of applying the patch I believe it should work.

Yep! It should work as normal, I had done the same with my conquest game and it worked perfectly when playing the revelations dlc.

I'm super new at all this but I've recently gotten my hands on a homebrew new 2ds and figured now was the perfect time to install the gay hacks I've been itching to try. I have a mac though, and a lot of the programs, like for de- and re-compressing files, seem to be windows only. I have NTR CFW and Luma but like I said, I'm new and, perhaps stupidly, drying to just dive right in with all the bells and whistles since I want to get the Corrinsexual rebalance patch, early Flora patch, and the Felicia/Jakob switch patch on top of the actual Gay Fates patch. If anyone knows good mac-friendly alternatives for compression and patching I'd be eternally grateful to hear about them. Thanks in advance!

I apologize profusely for this but I am completely new at this (didn't even install homebrew myself) but I would love to be able to use your same-sex hacks for fates and awakening since they simply make so much more sense for several characters; but I have absolutely no idea what I am doing and the tutorial video I see links to everywhere is down and I don't know enough to understand the tutorials I can find. I have tried tinkering myself but cant even figure out how to open HANS. I thought I was getting somewhere when I opened the open source CIA installer(whatever that is; version 2.4.12 on the off chance someone sees this and decides to help) and found hans through it and the SD to 3ds directories and find hans.3dsx hans.smdh and hans.xml but after that the only options i get are to delete, rename, copy, and paste. Someone please help since I have absolutely no idea what to do.

Hi

I need help figuring out how to get this hack to work. I'm going to try to be as coherent as possible but I'm kinda ready to start pulling hair out of my head because I've spent the past two days straight trying to get this to work.

I installed the homebrew launcher, luma3ds, and several other applications the tutorial I used to install those two things insisted I install alongside it, one of these being FBI (later BBMenu just for insurance if any CIAs didn't work), onto my old 2DS (v 11.9.0, 11.6 pre-homebrew installation, but the installation required me to update the console) (I own a new 2DS if this is the problem, but opted for the old 2DS because that was easier to do (no need for the magnet trick) and because my digital copy of fates was on that 2DS). Luma is up to date, and everything cannot possibly be anything but the latest version unless there was a major update within the past two days.

I then proceeded to make the "luma/titles/'TID'/romfs/gamedata" folders and do the copypasting as instructed by the replies on this thread and various tumblr posts. I did the same with the Jakob-Felicia switch hack as it instructed to apply the hack in the same way. I also copied over the gamedata.bin.lz to replace the original "gamedata.bin" files, with the paralogue unlock hack as shared via google drive on this thread. I did both of these things identically for the TIDs of USA Birthright and USA Special Edition, since I had a digital copy of birthright with revelations DLC (I know now this will not allow the hack to work on revelations, but I leave this detail in to specify I still have both those TIDs sitting on my SD card). Luma is set to enable patching on games.

Of course, as I stated I now understand, these hacks didn't work on my digital copy when I insisted on playing the revelations route (the entire reason I wanted this hack in the first place was for leo/takumi s supports), and so I found a CIA of the USA special edition, as well as a CIA for all the DLC, and promptly installed the SE onto my 2DS (leaving the DLC uninstalled for fear it might interfere with any of the hacks.)

At first I started off with M!Corrin, which was my desired avatar, and played through from the beginning, and immediately noticed the J-F switch hack didn't work as I was still being accompanied by Felicia. As I couldn't even get Azura and Felicia to C-support at all upon getting my castle within a short amount of time (scouting/challenging) in order to test if S-supporting was available between them, I decided to make a new save file with F!Corrin to see if a F/F S-support was possible between F!Corrin and Azura. I started from the beginning this time, as well, NOT starting from the branching path. Of course, I ended up with Jakob and was unable to S-support Azura. This game appears to be about as vanilla as it can be.

I've attached photos to give visualizations of what I have just described.

Please, someone, tell me what I'm doing wrong, I just want to know where I screwed up because I feel like I've been following instructions to the best of my ability. Thank you, to anyone who took the time to read all this, I really appreciate it.

I believe your problem may be that your /luma/titles/[titleid]/ folders are using a shortened version of the game IDs. That's the only thing I notice different from my setup anyhow. ;^^ Try renaming those folders, 00179400 and 00179800, to their full IDs- 0004000000179400 and 0004000000179800 respectively, and lemme know if that works! :D

Everything works now (well, the gay hack and J-F switch hack!! I'll let anyone know if I run into issues with the paralogue patch!), thank you so much. When using my digital copy, keeping the TIDs elongated caused the game to crash upon setup, and saw that someone in the thread suggested shortening them to the last 8 characters. It seems then that if you're using a CIA you need the elongated version of the TID - no crashing AND the hacks work, lmao. Again, thanks so much!

Hi, does anyone know if it works with another language? Because at least for me, having English as my language is the only way I can read the new supports. (I don't mind if they keep being in English).
PD: Sorry if it isn´t well expressed since English is not my main language.

this has probably been answered before but I don't have the willpower to dig through 107 pages.

My supports aren't showing up. I extracted it using Peazip and everything and I tried looking for corrupted Japanese characters but considering I don't know Japanese I honestly have no idea what I'm looking for and I really don't wanna sit there copy/pasting each and every single file into google translate to double check if I don't have to.

To clarify: the S supports are there. I can technically support with characters you normally couldn't in vanilla, but no conversation actually pops up. I just get the notification that the support rank went up and that's it. Is there any way to fix this?

Is that happening for everyone or just some of them? Not all of the new supports have conversations written for them, so in those cases you'll just see the support rank go up.
