Team-Xecuter Presents SX OS v2.4 BETA

It's HERE! - TX Has Finally Done It! - Their SX OS Now Fully Supports v6.2!
SX24.jpg

Everyone been smashing their heads against the wall, and refreshing forums for over two weeks waiting, but no more do you have to wait as SX OS v2.4 is finally available for all Nintendo Switch owners to enjoy, and be able to update to v6.2 finally, its been a long wait, but as you read the change-log below you will quickly see that it was well worth the wait, and there is still more to come soon! :)
We are pleased to let you all know that SX OS v2.4 BETA is ready for release.

First of all, sorry to keep you waiting longer than we initially anticipated. We have been working around the clock to bring you this new release. We want SX OS to be synonymous in your mind with constant quality. We are here to stay and we are here to keep supporting your purchase till end of life.

Now, lets have a look at what v2.4 brings to the table:
  • Support for firmware 6.2.0
Nintendo threw us a small curve-ball while we were in the middle of reworking some other parts of SX OS. That being said, SX OS is now fully compatible with the latest official firmware 6.2.0.
  • EmuNAND functionality reworked
Our initial release of EmuNAND used a storage mechanism that wasn't what a lot of people were looking for. In our last release we decided to switch to using the microSD for EmuNAND storage, which in turn made some users that *did* like the old method of storing EmuNAND on the system NAND unhappy. We have reintroduced the support for EmuNAND-on-system-NAND as well as introduced a third storage method for your EmuNAND partition. You can now also opt to use a separate partition (as opposed to files in the regular (ex)FAT filesystem) as a storage backend for your EmuNAND. With three flavors of EmuNAND storage supported now, all of you can rejoice!

To recap, you now have three way of settings up EmuNAND now:
    • EmuNAND on system NAND: repurpose part of your Switch internal storage for EmuNAND
    • EmuNAND on microSD as partition: repartitions your microSD card with a separate EmuNAND partition
    • EmuNAND on microSD as files: EmuNAND is stored on microSD as files instead of repartitioning
WARNING: Setting up your EmuNAND as partition on your microSD card will format your microSD card. After setup nothing but the boot.dat and license.dat will remain.
  • Homebrew R button interfering with ingame L+R buttons fixed
In the last release we introduced a method of invoking the homebrew launcher for any title by holding down the [R] button during application/game startup, this gives homebrew additional capabilities that it wouldn't normally have. However, this seems to have caused some interference with some games, this has been fixed.
  • Embedded Homebrew Menu
Previously, you had to copy a `hbmenu.nro` file to your microSD card in order to use the homebrew launcher. This has been fully integrated into the SX OS boot.dat file now. Effectively this means all you need for setup is to copy our boot.dat file, simple!
That's all we have for now, people. That doesn't mean we're done. Its not over until we have liberated every single console out there. A lot of our current attention is focused on bringing you a solution for these "unhackable" switches. That does not mean we're not improving SX OS as well. Keep those feature requests and bug reports coming!
Enjoy the festivities this month, and don't forget to pick up a SX Pro / SX OS for your loved ones! :)

Hey, just two quick questions. I just got SX 2.4 and already deleted my old emunand on the SD, which I barely used due to many comments about that method eventually or rather easily corrupting your SD card. My first question is whether or not the new partition method is more safe for the longevity of your SD card, aside from use wear and tear, or if the old rumor/statements of the old SD method actually being that destructive to an SD card.

As for my second question is regarding Choidujour. When updating the emunand, I know that there is an issue regarding sleep mode and waking up if fuses are burnt or whatever, but I plan on having an OFW fully up to date, and an Emunand fully up to date for purely offline nsp games and so on. But my question is as follows: For updating the emunand, must I use choidujour, or is that only recommended to not burn fuses? If I am updating both OFW and Emunand, is Choi still the best option, or do I just update as regular in both emu and sys?

Well the Stardew Valley update failed... the NSP installed in Tinfoil with fw ignore fine but when I went to launch it the game wouldn't start. I use Tinfoil with fw ignore because everything I've ever tried to install with the SX installer in 2.3 beta won't run on 5.1.0 and all ask for an update.

I'm not sure if that's related to 2.4 Beta or if it was maybe just a bad update file. I deleted and reinstalled it and of course it's still asking for the update.
I might try installing it in 2.3 Beta to see if there's a difference.

I think it's time to update to 6.x.x :(

"A lot of our current attention is focused on bringing you a solution for these "unhackable" switches. That does not mean we're not improving SX OS as well. " What is the general consensus on this statement? I understand money talks and bullshit walks if they had some kind of entry point they would at least tease us right? It's there anything Public out there that they could be using to get around ipatch? I think it was something called svhax that was reported to Nintendo recently could they use that for anything?

Or does this statement simply ring as hollow as "We want SX OS to be synonymous in your mind with constant quality." ? Which im assuming is one of the tounge in cheek jokes they like to do in the announcements

You will have to upgrade your emunand to 6.2 to get sleep mode working.

Once you've booted OFW 6.2 on your switch and burned switches, then it's impossible for any earlier version to come out of sleep mode because it will fail the fuse check.

It's not a bug. Nintendo intended that to happen as part of their downgrade protection & nobody can prevent it. You burned the fuses now, all you can do is upgrade both sysnand and emunand to 6.2
I am still on 5.1 with ChoiDujourNX from 4.1, so no burned fuses now, so if get back to 4.1 using my clean NAND, then installed emunand and update it to 6.2, it shouldn't burn any fuse, but will it cause problem in sleep?

Did anyone else have their save game data corrupted after sxOS 2.4??? As soon as i knew sxOS 2.4 was released, i updated the OFW to 6.2, linked my Nintendo ID, than i updated Skyrim. Booted to CFW and when i start the game it says that due to an error, copy of the save data for this app was canceled (i'm translating cause i don't have the message in english).

how do i update to 6.2 from 5.1.0?

You can use the homebrew app called ChoiDujourNX, there are guides available but it is pretty simple to use. You will need to find the firmware online and copy to your sd card. Using this utility will prevent your e-fuses from being burned and will automatically enable autorcm.

Great. I just updated to 6.2 and updated my Smash. It feels go to be able to go online again (somehow I wasn't banned yet, been using SX OS since release day. I guess using xci only pays off)
Same here had the sxos pro since July updated xci games in ofw all the time ever since. Just activated my Eshop version of Smash with no issues aswell

Now people are going to start complaining about nsp not installing on SXOS 2.4 - many of the latest games and updates refused to install. Use Tinfoil with firmware ignore option is the only solution. So why update to 6.2 or using SXOS 2.4 at all? I dunno.

Since 6.2 is now supported, should I be updating the sysnand from 5.1 to 6.2 or creating a emunand on a partition which requires formatting the sdcard followed by using ChoiDujourNX to manually update it?

1. If I use ChoiDujourNX to update it on emunand I don't need autoRCM installed I assume since it's not technically burning any efuses right?

2. Prior to emunand installation, can I backup the Nintendo folder on my sdcard and restore it later after renaming it to emutendo? Will that retain my previously installed nsps and updates? I assume that the emunand won't be accessing the Nintendo folder so if I will just be on 6.2 emunand to install updates and dlc which requires v6 firmware will my mounted xci games work with the updates?

3. I have not gone online prior to using sx OS and any xci games. If I do so now would I be risking a ban and not be able to update to 6.2 online?

4. Should I be using sx os nand backup feature or hakete for backing up my current nand?

@SonyUSA you said to me in another thread that i would go back to sxos when it drops because exciting stuff was happening.

well its dropped now and well there aint nothing exciting going on.

as for emunand who cares. it brings nothing to me, its not like a 3ds where you play online on nintendo's servers with emunand.

so please inform us of what exciting stuff is actually coming to sxos that makes it worth my time going back to it.

Watch the video...sx installer is the new freeshop ;)

If I use ChoiDujourNX on emunand can I disable autoRCM?
