Hi quick question! So I recently switched methods to Luma, I followed all the steps and the patch does work! But it's also making my game lag a pretty good amount (both conquest and the special edition cartridges). Starting up the game takes like 15-20 second, button inputs are delayed and when changing scenes it takes awhile to load.

Is there any way to fix this? Thanks!
Known issue with using lumas layeredfs, though it usually is only a problem for people using other modified files like custom textures. No solution with the luma method that I am aware of. A faster sd card may help. What you can do is unpack the rom, replace files, and rebuild the rom (the same method used for running hacks with citra).

How do I access the actual rom? Do I have to braindump everything? (sorry I'm a bit confused)

I assume it reads the gender from the gamedata file regardless of the recruitment status of the character. Changing the gender of one of the characters in the savefile (or changing their class to one of the opposite gender, as someone suggested somewhere; or doing both of those) using feftwiddler didn't unlock the paralogues for me. Using the "all paralogues unlocked" patch solves this and there's no need to change the genders in the gamedata file.
Then, in order for the game to recognize children of same-sex couples as siblings, once they've been both recruited, one of the children's data in the savefile should be hex-edited using feftwiddler so that both children have the same character id in the mother slot, and the other parent's id in the father slot (because when using this method, they're switched). UnassumingVenusaur came up with this alternative and described the process on her tumblr. To be honest, I prefer using this method since it's far simpler and quicker than hex-editing the gamedata file time and again.
Do you happen to have a link to this method? I tried to dig it up but couldn't find anything, only how to change the class genders.

Here

What I did was use the "All Paralogues Unlocked" patch plus this method to change the children's data so the game would recognize them as siblings. Very quick and easy.

FEFTwiddler, if you don't already have it.

Out of curiosity, can you modify the kids when their paralogue is unlocked and their parents are married before you recruit them or only after? Not that it matters, I just wanted to see if I could get that modifying out of the way after finishing an s-support haha.

Honestly thank you guys so much, you've been really helpful in getting everything working.

You can only modify the children after recruiting both of them. Basically, you should have the parents reach s support and marry, recruit their children in the paralogues, then choose which parent to make the "mother" and which the "father" for both children, and finally, hex-edit those bits accordingly.

Actually, I have no idea. Any help?

EDIT: to clarify, I used a guide to install Luma, I don't understand what to do with these files once I have them, I'm big-stupid

me my first time around

once you've downloaded the latest version of the hack from the OP and have extracted the .rar file's contents, go into \Gay Fates\v 0.6.2.1\Luma Version\, and find your game version's folder inside that. if you don't know your game's ID, the .txt file in the Luma Version folder can tell you. so say i have the US special edition, i would select the folder that ends in 179800, and copy it to my SD card in the \luma\titles\ folder. make sure that luma's game patching is on, and iirc that's all there is to it! i hope this was helpful!

That sounds easy enough. My only question is where would I find Luma's Game Patching to see if it's turned on?

Nevermind, I've found it. Thank you.

Its normal if you did not also install the unlock all paralogues patch. the game is hardcoded not to unlock the child paralogues for same-sex couples, so as a workaround UV created a patch to unlock the paralogues regardless of pairings. The files and instructions for this patch are in the gay fates download file.

Hey, i have a few quick questions:
I noticed slightly increased load times in my game, mostly happen when accessing the menu in My Castle, when trying to load a save etc. Is this normal? I can live with it, but i'd like to know if i'm the only one.
I'm using a version of FE:Fates SE (EU), that already has a (I'm assuming this patch) marriage patch 0.4.1 in it. Is using the Luma 3ds game patcher OK to apply the latest version of this patch (0.6.2.1 as of now) on top of it? Are there any known possible conflicts?
Thanks in advance.

This was discussed in some of the previous posts. Its a known issue that occurs with using Luma in-game patching. Only solution is a faster sd card or to dump, unpack, replace files, and rebuild your rom.

There shouldn't be any problems from applying the latest version on top of your older version, though some of the new supports might not be available in an existing save.

The unlock all paralogues patch should do everything right except for having siblings recognize each other as siblings, and there are some workarounds for that as well if you care enough.

Hello! So I use Citra and managed to install the hack and play it. I can see the supports but the game wont work if I install the paralogue patch. Glitches happen such as Felicia's sprite in the castle change to a robbed figure and so on.
I did everything the instructions said: Decompress the rom, drag and overwrite the romfs files with the hack's files, locate GameData.bin.lz and apply the patch, rebuild the rom.
Anyone can help me pls?

Can you describe the process you used to install the paralogues patch? (I assume you're talking about the "all paralogues unlocked" patch) There's a chance you may have made a mistake there.

Like I said, once I replace the appropriate files with the ones from the hack, I go to GameData folder, locate GameData.bin.lz and apply the patch to it. After its done I rebuild the rom

Running through some of the obvious:
Did you decompress the gamedata file before patching and recompress after?
Did you start a new game after patching, not using branch of fate?
Have you applied any modifications besides gay fates and the paralogue patch?
