Hacking What is the safest way to update .CIA games

i have googled this question and have gotten multiple answers. One answer tells me that updating the games via update file via the FBI application can get my 3DS banned from nintendos servers. another answer was that updating from the eshop is a no, however last night i updated ever oasis when i was prompted to and it worked. I also have a friend who says that updating games normally has worked for him and he has had his hacked 3DS for at least over 2 years without getting banned. The point is, I need a definite answer, so can anyone help me?

Is it not essentially safer to install an update .cia from somewhere offline with FBI?

Nope. Nobody was ever banned for it.

But you cant update games through the official way if you have a nnid on your system. When i try to update games on my old 3ds xl (with nnid) it fails. On my new 3ds xl is no nnid. And the updating works. That's my experience.

mine works fine for updates on my console. i got 9.1 and 11.9 with nnid. im not sure why yours throws errors on you when updating

Mine works fine as well guess u need a new nnid

. . . ok so here is the skinny . . . you can update (via the eshop) any game you can get from your 3ds's region (assuming your 3ds is not region changed in which case you cant use the eshop at all) . . . if its a out of region game the download will fetch the wrong region (ex eu game in a use console will prompt the eshop to download the usa update and while the homemenu will recognize that you have the update installed the game will refuse to apply it as its not the correct region update) . . . if its a game that never released in your region then the eshop will refuse to download it (potentially flagging your console for the next ... if ever banwave) . . .

long story short its cool as long as the eshops region matches the cia(games) region . . . otherwise google yourself a cia

i too want to know this even if cia games i have are same region of the 3ds hitting y on the main menu at the update prompt , or via e-shop gave errors 005 - 2008 and 007-2920 ... any workaround for update them ? not always are easy find updates in cia format for install them like cia games... thanks

How many times do I have to rewrite the following?

"Type 1" apps - updated by installing a separate update title (every app also available as gamecard is this type: product code is typically ?TR-P-????)
Can be downloaded via eshop, which includes downloading directly from Home, as long as:
- the update is available in your region's eshop
- you don't have unsigned tickets for the update title installed ( = uninstall update and its ticket if you have trouble)

"Type 2" apps - updated by redownloading the app itself (most digital-only software: product code is typically ?TR-N-????)
Can be downloaded via eshop, which includes downloading directly from Home, as long as:
- the app (and its ticket) you currently have installed is signed (dirty pirates, you know what this means)

sme updates are missing in that site too , a game i cannpot update for example is sonic all star raci g trasformed , not sure what "type" is , and get errors when trying to update by y on main menu or by eshops , sorry for noob questions , not practice in these things , i have a modded ds only from 1 month ...

yep there's the real answer.
you can get any update on the eshop (for your region). you don't need the game to install the update.
you can install every single update available if you want (i have done this) - there's nothing bad that can happen.

still... if you are very strict and never take your 3ds online anyway, and are always offline, maybe just find a cia of the update.
