Looking for some advice here.

I have a virgin switch (6.2) and a hacked switch (5.1 only ever using SD card Emunand and not touching sysnand).
I only play legit cartridge games and eShop downloads on the virgin switch. I play xci backups on my hacked switch and it has never ever been online.
However, now that 6.2 can be accessed, I want to consolidate my legit playing (sysnand) and backups playing (sdcard emunand) onto my hacked switch and access all my save files to back up using Checkpoint on the hacked Switch. And I want to just leave my virgin switch alone and keep it if my hacked switch ever gets banned.

The plan is:
  • update hacked switch from 5.1>6.2 (I tried to transfer data from virgin switch to hacked switch, but it asked me to update my hacked switch to 6.2)
  • transfer all data from virgin switch to hacked switch which will both be on 6.2

My question is, is there any reason to stay on 5.1? I'm weighing my option here of continuing to play legit on virgin and backups on hacked or consolidating and updating hacked switch to 6.2 and playing legit on sysnand and backups on emunand, but it'd be much more convenient to do it all on the hacked switch for now until I get banned. All I know is that there is a reason to keep 4.0 and lower, but I have never had the chance to be on those lower firmwares.

So far, the only thing I can think of is that there MIGHT be exploits in the future for lower firmware, but everything I've read has not denoted 5.1 firmware as anything special that can be exploited in the future.

Even if you upgrade your hacked switch to 6.2, I think you'll have to have internet connection in order to transfer content from one switch to another. I just recently upgraded to 6.2 and everything works correctly. You might have a problem running Smash + plus update using Atmosphere.

I guess the main question is if there is any reason to update to 6.2 from 5.1? I will be going online no matter what (to update and to play legit on Sysnand). I'll probably end up burning my fuses updating the sysnand because I want to keep sysnand clean. Unless there is a way to do that without burning fuses which i think is not possible anymore for 6.2 since tx has confirmed that nintendo now checks for the right fuses.

Woooow......didn't know that. Well, there really isn't any reason to update. If this makes you feel better, SX supports 6.2 now so you can continue using CFW
