Not necessarily. Some 32 GB SD cards have more than 29.1 GB of free space allocated which is all you need for the full dump. I for one have a 32 GB SD card with 29.7 GB of allocated free space and was successfully able to dump my full NAND, rawnand and boot0/boot1.

How do you know how much space is actually on it before you buy it

Good point. And its not like you can test the SD card before buying. So if you want to be on the safe side when it comes to dumping the NAND, you need a 64+ GB SD card. But in response to the post I quoted, you don't need a 64+ GB SD card to dump the NAND.

Yeah I realize that but I also realize when you buy sd cards of hard drives for that matter you lease a fair chunk of storage out of the packet so probably get 64 gb to be safe
