I think I've seen it before, it's some setting in Drastic that's not set correctly. Your top screen and bottom screen are inverted somehow (the top one should be at the bottom and vice versa), while the text is in the right place. Some quick googling suggested turning off "Muti-threaded 3D rendering" so you could try that?

I just spend an hour turning off every video system setting and replaying the section between the first savestone and tutorial battle and with no change :/
Maybe it is just the tutorial battle that is buggy? Will continue to play and find out.
Also if someone who also is playing this via Drastic, can you please share your settings with me.

Edit: I got it working by deactivating multi thread rendering only. This time I force closee Drastic via app options instead of using the in app exit button. Thanks Zkarts.

Just adding the decrypted fan-trans patched rom game ID to infolib.dat won't make it work. You need to to edit the extinfo.dat also if you want it to run on YSMENU/TTMENU.

Here: DAT FIX FOR YSMENU/TTMENU - CREDIT GOES TO DRWHOJAN

Note:
  • Replace the same dat names in TTMENU folder
  • No need to use that ARM7 patch, but you may want to AP patch the (J) rom using DS_SCENE ROM TOOL first before patching with the translation patch, though I do not think doing this is necessary, however do it anyway
  • Make sure to run it through eNDcryptS to make sure it's decrypted, though not necessary as logically it should be in decrypted condition after patching
  • Make sure to untick the "RESET" check box under the game icon in YSMENU rom list.
  • This dat fix does not solve the "sleep mode" issue (that is when you close-fold your handheld while the game remain running). Doing so will make it stop running, and you'll need to reboot your handheld.
  • Not guaranteeing that AP won't kick in, because drwhojan told me that it's not a 100% fix as there's a tool called "infolib.dat generator for R4" which we needed to cross check data against the extinfo.dat is missing. If anyone have that tool in their HDD, do send it to us. Only then can we confirm if further fix to the extinfo.dat is necessary or not.
  • I've added the game ID for the fan translated patched rom to the cheat database, and it shows up on YSMENU, but I've not test if the cheat from original (J) is applicable on the translated one. In which case, use at your own risk.
  • Lastly, I've decided to release the dats which drwhojan made on my request, because I notice RGF hasn't any update since Dec 2017, and no way of knowing if he's still active today or not. When he does release a fix, do use his instead.
Tried this. Still get the error =-4.

In that case maybe it's just not compatible with your cart version. I was using Original R4 DS, not an R4i.
The cart im using is a R4 Silver. Pic related.

Mine is an R4 DS that can only use 1GB and 2GB SD Micro. By the way, did you untick the "reset" box? If it's left ticked, in my case it causes white screen.
It was auto unchecked already. Trust me when i said i followed everything to T, i did it to a T. I'm just salty as hell that i can't play it on my R4 like the Spanish one.

I can relate with that frustration. I'm hoping to also able to play on latest Drastic Emulator besides relying on my old handheld, and so far whatever setting I tried changing in the config, the patched rom won't load and kept force closing.

Thanks for the translation. Im trying to load it on my old CycloDS. It works, but every time I try to save ingame I get an error: data could not be saved, please reinsert the game card and turn of power.

I can save all other games, including the japanese verion of ni no kuni. A .sav file is made on the sd card but somehow it wont save. Any ideas?

I'd say use the arm7 patch, as I've had no issues when I tested on drastic emulator.

Got it working on my "R4i Gold 3DS" (R4ids.cn version, circa 2016) after using the arm7 patch, successfully used sleep mode and completed a couple battles.

If I could, I would. But despite using the correct xdelta patching tool, after patching the rom with the Arm7 file, it can't be further patched with the translation patcher. Kept returning xdelta3 error for some unknown reason. And I'm using paid Drastic. But I can play fine on NDSL + R4 DS without Arm7 patching on YSMENU and Wood R4. If I can play on Drastic, then I'd rather play on my mobile, as it'll reduce the need of carrying 2 devices on the go.

You could do your own arm.bin patch using the info here - https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-patch-games-with-an-arm7-bin-file.94755/
...that's the way I used to do it to get stuff working on my ds-x card.

I didn't even need to use the translation patch, I used the arm7 one only and I ended up with the English translation without needing to use the English translation patch and my game was originally in Japanese before I used the arm7 patch.

Hmm... then I could have overlooked something, e.g. that it might have been ARM7+translation in that patching file. Which would explain why it says xdelta3 check sum error. I'll have to give it a try.

Yup. I'm aware that using DSLazy is possible to extract and inject files. Have tried, but it still didn't make it possible to launch the rom on Drastic. But I'm gonna check if that ARM7.xdelta is actually containing not just ARM7.bin but also the translation file. I probably didn't realize it.

Edit:
Nope, still not running on Drastic after patching the clean rom with ARM7.xdelta file.

Hope it works for ya! I tried the same way you did before when I first tried and had the same problem of it not patching with the English translation patch after the arm7 one, which in turn made me do just the arm7 patch only in the end and I got the translation in game just fine so I do believe the translation is in with the arm7.

Hmm strange it's not working for you with just the arm7..

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Maybe it's the rom you are using possibly that could be the issue?

Yup. It shows attempt to load, which is a step forward, but then it force close itself. If it's impossible, then I'll just have to make do with playing on the handheld.

Edit:

Nope, the rom is fine. I know for certain it works. As I've it running and played for hours on the NDSL using YSMENU.

Very strange.. maybe there is something in paid version of drastic that doesn't like the game.. I was using a free version when I tried.

I'd say look up "drastic English" can find it on Aptoide it's the version I was using when I tested things, so hopefully it works for you as well.
