I tried re-hacking my new 2ds xl a few months after I un hacked it and restored stock firmware on it. however when i tried the magnet exploit part during the Ntr boot method it didn't work. the new 2ds xl still goes black when it touches the magnet like it's supposed to, however it doesn't boot into safeb9sinstaller when i put in the button combination. I tried dozens of times, and i saw that the magnet was working but it wasn't booting into safeb9sinstaller. the r4 card im using is r4i gold 3ds plus.

edit: turns out it was an issuw qith my new 2ds xl that the system had trouble reading cartridges, i fixed it now.

The DCIM folder is not important. You only need "boot9strap" "boot.firm (which is the safeb9sinstaller)" and maybe the "boot.3dsx"
Do you have another supported flashcard? If yes...try it with this card.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

The card must not be recognized by the system in the Home Menu. If so, ntrboot is not active

From Nintendo Discord

= to boot ntrboot from flashcart on 3ds/n2ds =
1 :: turn the system on
2 :: put the magnet in place around the ABXY (centimeter NorthEast of ABXY for New2dsXL) buttons. move it around until the system goes to sleep and stays. :: remember this location
3 :: remove the magnet
4 :: turn the system off
5 :: put the sd in the system if it is not already
6 :: put the flashcart in the system if it is not already
7 :: put the magnet in place
8 :: hold X+start+select
9 :: while holding those 3, press and hold power
10 :: wait 5 seconds
11 :: release all 4 buttons

so how can i make the card recognized by the system in the home menu because the same exact r4i gol 3ds plus card has worked before for my new 2ds xl.

What he's saying is the card has two modes, ntrboot and DS mode.

If it's in DS mode, the icon will show up on the home menu. You DO NOT want that.

You need the icon to BE BLANK. That's the indication you are in ntrboot mode, which is what you want here.

Once you've flipped the switch to "N" it's in NTRBoot mode and the home menu will not show an icon for it. You need to switch it back over to "D" for the home menu to see it cart in DS Mode

ok,but im told i need it to be in ntrboot mode which i put it in, so that must not be the problem for the magnet exploit.

I had a problem that reads exactly like this, after racking my brain ( for weeks),

thinking it was the flash card, then the magnet placement/button push etc..., then the unit....

(the Sd card was successfully used by my system for years so why be that)

turned out the SD card was too fragmented.., once defraged, it took fine. go figure...

Then there was another issue. You should NEVER defrag flash memory.
