I'm on 5.1 and using Reinx. Can anyone tell me how to safely update to 6.2? I'm not sure if I want to go through the hassle of switching to Atmosphere but want the day one patch for Smash. Don't want to get banned, obvi. Would prefer not to have to dig out my tin foil if possible. I seriously can't find any information on how to do this which is baffling - so I presume I'm just looking the wrong way. :/
Use the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX.

So I'm not big on piracy anymore. However, the ability to backup my carts would be cool so I don't have to fish around for them again. Is this currently possible without buying Xecuter's crap?

Dumping them doesn't require SX OS. Use either gcdumptool or WAIN cart dumper. Playing them is another story. For non-SX OS CFW, you have to install the .XCI files. You can do that with ZeroTwoXCI, dOPUS, or n1dus. They require a keys file which you can obtain with another homebrew application known as lockpick. Alternatively, you can convert the .XCI files into .NSP format with 4NXCI or xci2nsp which also require a keys file.

Staying on 5.1 for a while, have had a lot of success with NSPs or converted XCIs installed to SD card. But a handful of games (Doom and Wolfenstein) I can't seem to get to work. They hard crash the switch and corrupt the install to the point of it needing removed.

I am running latest Atmosphere and Hekate, no special patches or configs. Am I missing a critical step to get some of these games working? Would really appreciate if someone could set me straight. Really trying to avoid SXOS.

Are you using the correct patches which can be found here? If you are, then the only other thing I can recommend trying is ReiNX.

I installed my NSPs using tinfoil, with the "ignore firmware" option. I'd like to update them now, as well as install DLC, and I have a few questions:

1) Is it preferable to install the game with "ignore firmware", or does it not matter? I'm asking mainly for compatibility issues later on when I try to install updates, dlc, etc.

2) How do I go about installing the updates (in NSP file format)? Same way I install games on tinfoil? Can I skip an update, or do I need to install EVERY update file, sequentially?

3) Do I need to install updates before the DLC? If so, what happens if you don't?

Thanks.

I actually had no idea that running patches was necessary to use converted NSPs and stuff so it's a miracle I got anything to work. Thanks. Grabbing and installing! I'll try Reinx as well but considering most stuff WAS working, I had a feeling it was just silly user error on my side.

  1. There is no harm in ignoring the firmware but it won't ignore all firmware requirements
  2. The latest update contains all of the previous updates
  3. Order doesn't matter but in case you exit Tinfoil before installing all of them or something else goes wrong, you could install updates before DLC

Is there any reason not to install .nsp games to the nand if the system will never be connected to a network even once? Seems wasteful to not use that 25.6 GB free on it once my SD card starts getting low on space.

No not really especially since games run slightly faster when installed to NAND.

How do I go about being able to choose to boot atmosphere or reinx while bootloading into hekate?
You either make a Launch Configuration that points to the specific payload and corresponding patches/kips or you place the payload in the /bootloader/payloads folder. For the lazy, there is a pre-compiled version of Hekate that launches Atmosphere by default known as Kosmos. For ReiNX, just download ReiNX and place the payload in the /bootloader/payloads folder.

For some reason, when I put the reinx payload in the bootloaders/payload folder and try to load reinx (from hekate), I just get a black screen. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Edit: It's working now. I just deleted and inserted the files again and it worked

Hello to all!

I bought Nintendo Switch which i un-patched. It is on OFW 4.1.

My friend bought the same console from the same shop 2 months ago. He said that if I get this unpatched version I am always on the safe side because nintendo cannot patch it unless console is returned to factory. Back then, He gave me instructions to update the console to the latest version via OTA update and then just follow the simple metod to boot into CFW via SX PRO dongle.

Today I got SX Dongle with licence. I wanted to confirm that the above method is still working. But now friend told me that I am too late because the 6.2 firmware patched all the consoles and I cannot update console to previos version 6.1 without burning some fuses. He also told me my 4.1 FW will not recognize SD 128GB and needs update. And if I download the exFAT update I will also update Switch to 6.2.

Do i need to make NAND backup and why? Switch asked me to backup joycons and did not recognize SD card - probably exFAT update or something? What are fuses and do i need to backup them so they dont get burned? I really dont understand this one.

Can someone please tell me step by step procedure on what to do now?

Thank you in advance!

I have Brand new unpatched virgin Switch and SX OS PRO dongle.

All guides are made before 6.2.0 was released.

Can someone please help me and point me to step by step procedure...

Hey guys - completely new to this switch modding business so I just wanted to confirm a particular thing before I get started:

I currently own 2 switches and smart me have used a legit (purchased games) account on both of them at some point in time.
My question is if I unlink one of them and link another dummy account and begin modding on it would the original account be banned as it was previously linked to the switch?

consoles get banned, not accounts.

Thanks for fast reply Cyndor - So i presume once the console gets banned you can't un/link an account tied to the console and hence can't access the stuff you purchased for (from eshop)
I believe so. The only way to get it unlinked would be to call nintendo.

Question about FTP -> I am using SX OS and used Checkpoint to back-up a save, but when I tried to use Filezilla and navigated to the checkpoint directory it was empty, even tho I had just made a backup?
