spotify could not even pay me for their service. I prefer to play my music on what ever device i want and not have drm. Ill just stick to what i have been doing with my own server....

As for Google mini they can keep it. My house will never be a smart house. I like my houses stupid and my tvs even stupider.

The plot twist here is that you're paying Google (And the NSA) $1 to listen to YOU.
That's what I meant. Cant believe people willingly let their home get bugged.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I will never understand, what you guys are hiding so hard, I really don't think they want to listen to you, and if they do, they are anyway....
Well no, because I won't use their services, I won't let them listen to me. It's advantageous for them to listen to you, to them, you are interesting. Once they know you, they'll sell shit to you like crazy. You may think it's tinfoil, but there's a reason they're worth in the hundreds of billions.

Just because we value our privacy doesn't mean we necessarily have anything to hide.

Took advantage of this deal the first day I saw it. Ordered 4 total and they all shipped without issue. Not sure if there is a max limit per account. I saw somebody say when they tried ordering a 5th they got an error. But it could've been that their code was already used/mined. You got people on eBay selling the codes for $5-10 each to claim on Google's store as well.

As for the people being paranoid of being listened in on, what difference does it make if you're also being watched on the internet? I'm sure you say worse things on the internet than you do in real life. When I get around to setting one of them up in my room, 90% of the time it's going to hear silence and the sound of my laptop keys being pressed. Really not a concern to me. I get the whole privacy thing but nothing you do is privatized anymore.

Plus I only bought these to use as Christmas gifts for people. Can't beat $1 gifts.

I'm gonna pretend you didn't just say that it's okay to be spied on from your devices.

In what sentence did I say that it's okay? I'm just stating that nothing you use anymore is private. The computer you're using to type your replies on? Not private. If you've got nothing to hide, don't be paranoid. If Google/NSA wants to hear me asking stupid questions and what the weather is like, cool. If they want to hear me talking on the phone about useless subjects that don't involve threatening the government, cool. It's no different than using a computer where all your data is stored and sent as well.

why cant this be in Canada :(

You can go on eBay and find somebody selling a redeemable code which can be redeemed on Google's store. You don't have to do the Spotify method.

I just rather lock down the devices I use with specific app permissions, or disable them completely. I will fight it every step of the way. If I have to jailbreak and root the device to make it happen, then so be it.

I've ordered 3 >.>;

https://www.androidauthority.com/google-home-mini-spotify-trial-930940/

Seems to work.

It's not that useful if you don't have many smart devices, but its worth $1, I use mine currently with sonoff switches($5), which if you dont have neutral wires, you can install right at the fixture. (doesnt work with dimmers)
Btw guys, these are cracked/compromised, they buy/leech a "combolist" scan them with a tool (I wont mention them) and then sell them. Just wanted to say. I have bought these from a different seller.

I tried this for the hell of it and it worked. I tried doing it again with another account and it didn't seem to work. Maybe Spotify/Google is catching on and will shut down any orders if the billing info is similar to other orders. My two friends also got it to work for them, too

I will likely never use this, and I don't even have much of a use for it if I did, but hey, can't beat nearly free

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
