I'm having a problem... When I export the extra data, it creates it successfully, but when I see it on the pc, there's a folder exactly how I named it, but it's empty...

Not every title has extra data. Could you elaborate on which title is giving you issues?

Do you see a box with a progress bar on the bottom screen? If not, the extdata is empty or JKSM isn't seeing what's in it. If you do and it's still empty, I guess I gotta look at it.

Yes. I could see a green bar. It created successfully.

Hmm. What you can do is check to see if the 3DS has extra data for your game. Open System Settings-->Data Management-->Nintendo 3DS-->Extra Data. If it's there, JKSM probably can't see it.

On an unrelated note, hey @JK_ I am using JKSM via Rosalina on my New Nintendo 3DS XL and noticed that a few System Titles are missing. The following System Titles are detected:

Activity Log
Friend List
Game Notes
Instruction Manual
Mii Maker
Miiverse
Nintendo 3DS Camera
Nintendo 3DS Sound
Nintendo eShop
StreetPass Mii Plaza
System Settings

I believe the following are not detected or supported for some reason:

Internet Browser
Home Menu
AR Games
Face Raiders
amiibo Settings
Nintendo Zone

Any info you can give?

I somehow solved it, but now I have a save data that I created today with the info of some days ago. I noticed it because in an editor, the level was lower than when I play the game.

Newer 3DS releases only list what they can open. It was an oversight on my part, but now this means both SD and NAND titles need to be scanned when reload is selected. Rescanning NAND titles wasn't really needed in previous versions. It's not a hard fix or anything, but I'm digging and messing around with some Switch stuff right now and don't wanna lose my place so-to-speak.

It's not a critical issue, just something peculiar I noticed when using your app. Thanks for your response.

When using the program, I get "could not access the save data archive" as an error. What would cause this? I have the latest version of the jksm, and I know I have save data on the game I'm trying to back up.

Which game and region? What happens when you try backing up the save + extdata with Checkpoint v3.5.0 and (if you have it), SaveDataFiler?

Animal crossing new leaf, USA, and I haven’t tried those two, but I tried some ACNL backup tool, and it too gave me an error about not being able to access save data archive. I’ll try checkpoint next

:!: Because of this game's anti-cheating protection, make a copy of:

AC:NL (original), USA region:
  • smdc:/Nintendo 3DS/<ID0>/<ID1>/title/00040000/00086300/data/00000001.sav
or

AC:NL - Welcome Amiibo (USA):
  • smdc:/Nintendo 3DS/<ID0>/<ID1>/title/00040000/00198e00/data/00000001.sav

If you happen to tamper the save file or there's a mismatch in the secure value, the game will automatically delete all your progress. There's a way to bypass and reset the secure value by backing up and restoring the save.

Since you're having problems backing it up, I think I have a clue as to why yours isn't working with JKSM and ACNL backup tool. Would you happen to have a special edition 2DS/3DS model that came prebundled with AC:NL or may have acquired a universally legit *.cia version of this game? A simple 'yes' answer will suffice for ambiguity. :)

This appears eerily similar to what happened in this thread:

***

If you have no luck with Checkpoint and SaveDataFiler, it might be possible to backup the save with Windows program fuse-3ds and Python script 3ds-save-tool.

The steps are somewhat messy mounting the Nintendo 3DS folder with an extract movable.sed to decrypt the 00000001.sav file and punching in the code lines to break up the *.sav into a form usable with JKSM, Checkpoint, or SaveDataFiler.

I can try this from my end like in:

Okay done! :D Good to know.

Mine came with no games pre-bundled, and as far as I'm aware, this game was gotten off freeshop.

This is the closest thing I could find to my error, I think

I'm almost certain that I was once able to change my save before in the past. The 3DS hasn't done anything in months, hasn't updated, hasn't had any drastic changes, but when I tried to do something yesterday, no programs worked.

Checkpoint, however worked like a charm! It both backed up my save and restored it. Thank you so much for your detailed response, I really appreciate it.

I've been messing around with JKSM for an hour, and I have no clue whatsoever how to import any saves anywhere. While the titles show up fine, the save data is empty and confusing, even when there's quite a lot of progress in the game.

Context: I'm trying to import a Pokemon Prism .sav into an injected VC copy. I found the copy within the titles, but can't do anything with it - it's as if the rest of the SD card is impossible to access.

Anyone still interested in *hax support? It took longer than I thought, but maybe I finally got it straightened out.

Well, I'm definitely appreciative of your efforts. :) It's something I hope I never actually have to use, because if I'm ever restoring save data, that would mean something went horribly wrong.

Does it still produce cryptic error messages if you try to takeover Mii Plaza?

Uploaded a newer version to git just now. Not much has changed. This is mostly for people who still use hax.

It will still just say it can't open the archive under hax mode. Extra data can be dumped from Mii Plaza, but the actual save data is a no-go with just hax permissions.

I don't suppose it's possible to discern between "that file can't be opened with current permissions" and "your NAND is completely unreadable, time to panic", is it?
