I know 100% the card is not the problem It's a SanDisk 32gb SDHC I never used it for anything other then the Wii U, and always has been in FAT32, I do not use any other format methods.

I do not own another SDHC and currently unemployed so couldn't afford to buy one if I wanted.

The HBL is literally the only thing giving me problems, everthing else works perfectly even vWii homebrew.

But how did you install CBHC when you can't access the HBL?
I don't know whether you can directly launch WUP Installer GX2 from either the CBHC menu (if not, try this) or with browserHax by trying either one of the following URLs in your Wii U browser:
As soon as you're inside WUP Installer GX2 you can install the HBL channel so you don't need the HBL homebrew at all (which doesn't seem to work on your end for whatever reason).

Alternatively you could try renaming the WUP Installer GX2 elf to homebrew_launcher.elf and put it into sd:\wiiu\apps\homebrew_launcher\
That might help you launching WUP Installer from where you can install the HBL channel then.

Hope one of those methods work for you mate.

I never had issues acessing the Homebrew Launcher menu, until w/e just happened. It was the Channel launcher/fowarder or w/e you want to call it, you install on the System menu that was giving me a migraine.

Like I mentioned before now that I'm unable to get into the menu at all, I can't do anything with that SD.

I've attempted using that site before and all that ever happens it it fails to load. There's mention in the meta data that that feature requires extra files but I never looked into it.

Okay look. If you completely clean up your SD card and just put this on it it must work through BrowserHax to get into the HBL. If not either your SD card is formatted the wrong way (wrong cluster size e.g.) or you would have to try another card.
As much as I wanna help you, that's all I can tell you for now.

Keep in mind that BrowserHax (preferable with loadiine.ovh) doesn't have 100 % success rate depending on your FW. However, if you get the "-5" error it's one of the two things I stated above as that means it can't access the hbl elf on your SD card.

Edit: A last question though: Are you using a Mac to set up your SD card by any chance?

I already had that on the SD, first thing I did after installing CBHC was update everything in the app store.

I'd rather eat raw sewage then use a mac. When I put the files onto the device I was on Kubuntu.

Then I'm sorry mate. I dunno what to tell you. If you can by any chance, try another SD card (borrow one from a friend) and put nothing but the HBL, the HBL channel install files (in sd:\install\hbl\) and WUP Installer GX2 on it.
As soon as the HBL channel is installed to your home menu you are set (as that is not a forwarder and doesn't need the hbl elf from your SD to launch).

Alright, so I've borrowed my friends PC and retraced my steps. It's looking like using the 1.3 fixes the "-5" error, but the channel installed through WUP does nothing.

Edit: okay so I just placed all the files from HBL 1.4, HBL RPX 2.1 & installed HBLC 2.1 and it's finally working 100% and got the Mii Channel back.

Thanks for bearing with me on this, and the main issue looks like it was basiclly, I was under the impression I did not need the codebins or mp4 from 1.4 if I had the rpx.

Which just ended up on me not being able to launch.

There's nothing more satisfying than something that seemed to not work at all turned into a working state. Glad it's running well now for you. :)

Hi everyone,

My Wii U is 5.5.3. Is it possible to launch the Homebrew Channel with the browser exploit, and THEN install games in the USB HDD? A few months ago I installed CBHC in a friend´s Wii U, and now i want to install some games in mine, but without investing in a legit DS game (I would like to install all games at once with the browser exploit and thats it).

You could but the problem is that you need signature patches (=CFW) everytime not only before you install something but also before you launch something you installed (from external sources).
So if you really don't want to buy a DS game and only rely on browserHax (which has a bad success rate on 5.5.3 afaik) I'd suggest go install the HBL channel.

Because theoretically you would have to get into the HBL via browserHax to launch a CFW (Mocha) and then have the big amount of luck to get to the HBL via browserHax again without any fails to install games via WUP Installer GX2 then.

So get the HBL channel, put the files to sd:\install\hbl\ and try your luck with getting into the HBL once again via browserHax after you successfully launched Mocha CFW from browserHax.
If you succeeded, install the HBL to your home screen.

From now on everytime after you boot up your console you would only have to use browserHax once (to launch Mocha CFW) because after that's active you can either enter the installed HBL channel to install more stuff via WUP Installer GX2 or play your installed games.

Hope it's understandable what I wrote.

Thank you! I had the doubt because a friend told me he paid an acquaintance to install some games in his Wii U 5.5.2, and he managed to do so without CBHC, neither a legit DS. Of course he used an SD card and a USB HDD. Now he can play games installed in the menu the same way you can do when you have CBHC, but without it. Of course, since that acquaintance charge for the job, he wont explain us the trick.

Since this option es terribly annoying, I suppose I will end doing the CBHC, like with the other Wii U. Do u know the most updated tutorial for this? I heard browser exploits like u.drg.li arent working like before.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I have been searching and It seems he install digital copies. The process seems very similar. He take the copies to the SD card and then install them in the Wii U or USB HDD. I will come back with more info.

That's impossible. If he really found a way on how to do it he would be better than FIX94 and dimok (and all the others) and I highly doubt that. ;)
He could only achieve that with Loadiine which has long loading times not shitty compatibility compared to the install method.

Here's a guide: https://wiiu.hacks.guide/
I don't know about u.drg.li but I'd use loadiine.ovh

As long as the games were disc-based and you're not installing unpurchased DLC, you don't need signature patches. It's the eShop games and DLC (things with fake tickets) that need signature patches.

I though that this type of scenario was the entire purposes of SigPatcher2sysmenu.

Yes, doesn't matter whethe you use sp2sm or Mocha.
You just would have to launch it after every coldboot (unless you're using CBHC) before you can install or launch games you didn't buy legally.

I'd still say I kinda recommend CBHC now that I'm more accustomed to the CFW. I know not everyone is going to want to use it but it's hella convenient.

I just hid the CBHC channel on the final page of a folder and pretend SYSnand doesn't exist, not counting installing things to it using WUP.

Mystery solved. What he does is install "legit" Wii U games downloaded from USB Helper to the Wii U with loadiine. Since the games are "legit" you can play online and everything. Of course he can only install Wii U games with their updates but no DLC, no virtual console games, no cfw. Fortunately I was only interested in Wii U games and I used that method.

Hi all, i picked up a Wii U very cheaply in a local second hand store a few days ago with faulty gamepad. The touchscreen wasn't working which in turn stopped the dpad and buttons working. I have now replaced the touchscreen and restored the touchpad to working order. I am now looking to mod the Wii U and open it up to Homebrew and i'm looking to go down the haxchi route having purchased one of the compatible DS titles from the EU estore. I am following the guide wiiu.hacks.guide and I have my SD card prepped and in the console and using the usploit.hacks.guide site i have managed to launch the homebrew channel. The next part of the guide tells me i need to load the haxchi installer and i can touch that on my gamepad but then i am stuck. I am unable to touch the load or the back buttons. I can use the D-Pad to browse left and right in the background so the app hasn't crashed, i just can't load the installer or back out to the menu. Clicking the home button takes me back to Mii Maker and if i launch Mii Maker again it boots back into the Homebrew Channel. I have a few Wii remotes but don't have a sensor bar at the moment due to it not being with the console when purchased. Do i need to go out and get a sensor or am i doing something wrong and should be able to complete the steps with the Gamepad. Wii U is a Pal UK 32gb premium model running the latest 5.5.3E firmware. Thanks for any help :)

You can use the (standing) gamepad as a sensor bar as it has one built in.
Also you could try another version of the HBL which can be used with the D-Pad as well afaik. :)
