What does not go away? System Volume Information? Windows creates this folder on any drive. Ignore it. Everything else should be gone after formating.
Your card showed weird behavior. Before relying on it, you should do a full test with h2testw.

But wait... what? You got a real electric shock when touching the card? I took "shock" metaphorical. Seriously you should replace that thing. If the memory chip got a shock, too it is dubious and cannot be trusted.

If you have all your files (minus the not good NAND.bin) you do not need to repeat anything except the NAND-backup. The parts with the clock and CTRNAND Luma 3DS are not needed in any case - this is not on the SD.

I think the SD card got something similar to an overdrive or something since the file was too big?? I'm checking it right now, though, so we'll see. I think I have another card that works but we won't know 'til we know. But you mean that I don't have to download/install the GM9Megascript again or what??

No problems with the card so I'm gonna keep going with this one...

... dude . . .
Here's the thing, my dad has the SD cards, but on them there are some important stuff. Is this so important that I have to transfer the stuff to this card and then use that other card instead? If it is then sure, but I don't think the other ones are of much better quality anyway.
I know I'm dumb btw, but I just don't feel like it's that important since it won't hurt to try right? (Other than a tiny bit in my finger xD)

honestly if you got shocked (and your sd card got a corrupted file) then there is a good chance the actual writable space on the sd card got fried copy everything off the sd card to the pc and run H2testw (Windows) assuming it has zero errors copy everything back to it . . . if there are errors replace it

That's what I did, no errors. And also, the corrupted file wasn't corrupted per se. It was just the easiest way to describe the GM9Megascript thing.

OOWWW, I got shocked by my SD card when I unplugged it! And my sysnad.00.bin whatever won't transfer to my backup folder.
What? That's not supposed to happen.

If your SD card felt scorching hot to hand touch when ejecting it from the 3DS, you need to stop using this card.
:!: Flash memory that gets too hot poses a fire risk.

For example:

Dq7J0O5.jpg

I think my SD card got messed up for some reason, it automatically ejects a minute after I put it in. Help, should I go to the hardwareforum?
Okay, your SD card is behaving erratically. Unless you have a finicky USB multi-flash card reader or micro-to-standard SD adapter, I would retire it at this point as it can't be trusted.

A card that stops in the middle of writing will corrupt data.

That's what I did, no errors. And also, the corrupted file wasn't corrupted per se. It was just the easiest way to describe the GM9Megascript thing.
When you checked with H2testw, was it done with the card empty? Running H2testw with an already filled card will miss scanning preoccupied NAND cells.

If it was not...
  1. Copy everything off the card onto a computer.
  2. Reformat as FAT32 + 32 KB cluster size with Windows File Explorer or guiformat (32 GB or larger).
  3. Full Write + Verify Test this now empty card in H2testw.

Even if the card passes, any files that are of importance to you and your father should be copied over to a computer. H2testw can't be used to diagnosis for hardware issues that does not concern with memory capacity. Yours sound like it's on its last leg and will be dying soon.

Yes, other than that weird file (see pictures above) it was empty. It still is I haven't dared try to put it in the 3ds or do anything without direct instructions since I don't really get this whole thing.

When I removed the GM9Megascript file everything worked as usual, it was after that I ran the test and it works. Now I just need to know how I should proceed with the megascript.

Also, this memory card didn't have anything important on it, it would just be a little bit of a hassle to try and convince my dad to switch over the files between the SD cards.

Oh like what @KleinesSinchen mentioned, that System Volume Information folder is perfectly normal. I have those too on some of my SD cards. I think Windows is suppose to make them hidden most of the time. You can delete yours if it bothers you as having or not having does nothing. Edit - Please read post #31 below.

Stress test your card with reading and writing files of various sizes ranging from KB to GB.

Informal stress testing

  1. Make a folder on the root of the card.
  2. In that folder, grab random files from your computer and copy those with a minimum of 4 GB or half way.
    • If you have a big enough SD card, try adding 8 GB.
    • Don't transfer a single file that's 4 (or 8) GB in size. You need multiple files of various sizes!
    • Try adding a video and some songs.
  3. When you're finished copying those files in that folder, copy another set to the root of the card.
  4. Go back in the folder and delete all the files.
  5. For kicks, play the video or songs. Your card will be writing, deleting, and reading data all at the same time.
    • If the playback stutters or slows down, this is fine.

Once you get those three processes running, do this for 10 minutes. Unless you have a crappy computer, your card should not freeze or eject itself but should simply slowdown.

If the card feels burning hot at the end of the test, discontinue using the card and get a replacement.

A little off topic, but a warning about that: System Volume Information is actually used in NTFS formatted drives (and not accessible by default under Windows in case of NTFS). Please do not attempt do delete that folder on NTFS, especially your drive C: That will be no good. It stores system restore point, shadow copies, a database and what not.

On FAT drives it is pretty useless and can be deleted. But this folder is like a boomerang: It comes back. XP did not create those on FAT drives if I remember correctly.

Should I download or just OBS some? I don't currently have any on my computer, do I have to make some?
You could also use a benchmark tool like CrystalDiskMark or bonnie++ (not sure if there is a Windows version, bonnie is a Unix/Linux tool) to do a stress test. Don't choose a giant size or big number of test iterations for testing, it will take very long depending on the speed of your card. Such a benchmark tests very big and 4kb files.

If you are in search for a demanding movie for the test, search for Sintel. It is a nice short and free (Creative Commons License) animation movie made with Blender. Legal free download. English audio with a lot of subtitles available.

Oh, and also, it's not that hot, I can comfortably hold it. I'm gonna keep going with this one but I might try another computer...

Make frequent enough backups of your game saves + extdata with Checkpoint or JKSM. Offload to your computer until you're fairly certain your SD card is performing normal. If you notice any more odd behaviors, consider substituting with another SD card that has been reformatted and checked with H2testw.

If this 2nd card also acts funny, come back for further troubleshooting. Perhaps the SD slot reader, files setup, or even 3DS firmware itself will need taking a look at.

Alright, now it all works, and this time I mean everything. I'm done with CFW and now I have a randomized version of ultra sun!
Thanks to you all! I'll make sure to ask for some SD cards for christmas in case this happens again XD. I'm gonna close the thread now if I can find how...

In short: You don't. Only moderators (and above) have the right to lock threads and they do this only if a thread gets out of control.

Nice to hear this. Good luck with your modded console. And remember to backup your SD-card(s) and your saves from time to time. An SD can die from one second to another, even without electric shocks, for no reason. Better safe than sorry.
