So, I tried homebrewing and CFW but at the last step, my 3ds didn't wanna start the launcher, I just got a black screen. I did the natural thing after about 2 minutes, I turned it off. I removed the homebrewing-files from the SD card to see if that would work and that was a mistake. Now it didn't even boot, the blue light (on the actual console, not on the screen) flashed for a second and then vanished. I tried another SD card (actually my backup one, it had all the correct 3ds files), nothing. I put all the files back (the homebrew and CFW related ones) and then it finally booted but I didn't know how to fix the homebrewing and such. Eventually, I was so desperate I tried to update sub wars (bad choice, I know) to see if it would maybe fix the problem. It didn't and I want to just completely wipe my 3ds and SD card to try homebrewing it again.

Any answers are appreciated, though I am dumb and need kind of direct instructions xD.
I'll gladly give more information if it might help you.

I forgot to mention, after I updated sub wars it just started the normal game instead of the homebrew.

Couple things.
Once you cfw your system, you need boot.firm on the root of the SD card. When it isn't there, the system flashes the blue light, then turns off. This is normal.

As for sub wars, once you have cfw, you need to use a different (and better) way to homebrew. You can't use sub wars for homebrew again.

Directions:
Just do everything on this page, one of which is the cfw method for homebrew.

Don't I have to delete any of the other files?? I mean I messed up the other way so shouldn't there be some corrupted files?

Go ahead and continue with the next step.
That doesn't work either, when I do the code or whatever it doesn't do anything

You're stuck with Rosalina Menu injection for Homebrew Launcher?
Thanks, I'll try that when I get home.

Thing is, I think I've done something simple wrong. Maybe I accidentally removed an important file? I'll put up a screenshot of my sd card when I can so you can check.

You're stuck with Rosalina Menu injection for Homebrew Launcher? Watch this tutorial.
This part confuses a lot of first timers.
This helped, now I can use homebrew again. One thing though, godmode9 says my time and date is wrong and the guide doesn't talk about that. Sorry that I'm paranoid, I just don't want to screw it up again lol. Should I set the date and time, is that important at all?

Better ask a question too much than miss an important thing. Nothing bad will happen if you change the clock. You did not screw up in the first place. All good.

Okay: The 3DS has "two clocks". Nah... Not really. It stores an internal time and a value added to this internal time. When you change date/clock with System Settings, only this added value is changed. It has the purpose to prevent cheating on time based events (e.g. berry growth in Pokemon) as you can't change the "real"/internal time. With custom firmware you have access to both.

Did you use ctr-no-timeoffset like told in the guide? You can input the correct date/time in GodMode9, but you'll have to adjust the date/time with System Settings after that.

I did, but the guide said something about the RTC time too so I figured I already set the time.

This small app sets the added value to zero. Just input the correct date and time with Godmode and the date/time shown in the Home Menu should match (as the offset is set to zero).
And the guide does mention this:
the guide said:
4. If you are prompted to fix the RTC date&time, press (A) to do so, then set the date and time, then press (A) to continue

Press the "Home" in Godmode and select "More..." There it is: "Set RTC date&time"

I think my SD card got messed up for some reason, it automatically ejects a minute after I put it in. Help, should I go to the hardwareforum?

SD card going crazy or what? Don't panic. Forget about the NAND-backup.bin for now. You can't trust a backup anyway when the SD went bad/mad. You will have to create a new Image.

Try to copy everything else to your computer, especially the "Nintendo 3DS" folder. Try another SD-reader, too.
Do you have much data on the SD, like games and saves? Would be tricky, if not impossible, to recover if that thing failed completely. What exactly happened?!

But a failed SD itself is not a big thing. If you can't copy the "Nintendo 3DS" folder, you will have to repeat the finalizing part of the guide. Test any card before trusting it. (Steps 1-4) from this post:

Ok, I successfully removed the corrupted file, now the card seems OK. I put all the good files into a backup so now it really SHOULD be fine to move on. How do I go on now? Should I try to download that megathing again or what?

This thing is bothering me, though, it doesn't go away when I reformat...

The card works now, I can access it and remove it without getting 20volts in my finger xD. Though I am not sure the card is safe and working since it has a weird file on it.
By the way, should I just try to install the file on my 3ds again or what?

Oops, I didn't realize it was on a new page so I double-posted. Sorry!
