Besides Joker in Smash is most likely a huge hint that Persona 5 is going to be ported to the Switch since the Switch is selling like Hotcakes, Atlus might want in and port it. I mean Joker DID appear as a main character in Persona Q2... which other than the cartoony artstyle still has a "M" rating.

Trust me. The "complaint" is there for me on Cloud as well. But think about this:
Sonic the Hedgehog is probably the BIGGEST culprit here. SEGA and Nintendo once upon a time were going face to face for awhile in brutal competitive action. Never would you see a Sonic game on Nintendo and even though that was over 15 years ago, look at him in Brawl and etc. Cloud isn't even a competitor. (Or in this case for Sonic, WAS) Just an unrelated piece of video game content. Again, I base which characters would be well on a bunch of factors. One of the factors being "video game icon". Cloud is certainly one of these as well as not being "Exclusive" to any system. Cloud not being on Nintendo was probably just a marketing thing where they felt they would not make as much money, who knows. It is very hard, FAR HARDER to justify Cloud than Snake, but at least those are icons... Joker isn't. XD

Well smash was a celebration of nintendo. Then kojimas son like 64 so much that kojima called sakurai to put him in melee but they were too late in development. Then, kojima called a game they were in an agreement and put snake in smash. After that point sega was a third party developer and was suffering from a loss from sonic 06. So if they wanted some money they had to put sonic in brawl to bounce back into business. My point is, its just that its not a character in itself being "qualified" for smash. If its a video game character, then they have a chance. It could be possibility of circumstance not only in fantasy but also in real life.
In accordance to persona, shin megami tensei was popular on nintendo systems
In addition, nintendo wanted the dlc line up to be emblematic every character to be very new and unique. Put the two or two together and it just so happens that joker is one of the most unique and interesting rpg characters. The dlc is meant to surprising. Im not upset that you dont want joker in smash but i hope you give him a try and chance as he is a very cool character

Hm.. You're right. I just have to call and see if they have open spots for my character in my game, etc... On Nintendo's point of view of course they hardly care too much about what is ACTUALLY being put in the game... (Of course as long as it is age-related...) All of the "Factors" I would have just don't exist in Nintendo. They were asked, they liked it, they will agree. Same with Steve from Minecraft. XD

And trust me. I was never a fan of Splatoon. In fact I disliked the game so much. BUT I tried Inkling just because he/she is there and it is one of my favorite characters despite me disliking the game. So noooo. I KNOW Nintendo will make every Steve from Minecraft Super Smash Bros. character fun to play and they have my money. But you know. Just want to see a nice face. Especially ones requested more.

In this post I'm making one big assumption: The rumors that Persona 5 is coming to the Switch are real.

This character is paid DLC being used to advertise Persona 5. Why are people excited about paying for a fucking advertisement? Same thing as Corrin in Sm4sh.

Usually when a window of "allowing your character to enter" is almost always just advertisements. Like Disney Infinity bringing out characters, Toy Sets and Power Discs based on UPCOMING movies or based on recently released ones. In Nintendo themselves actually have something to do with this Persona series, or partnered or something then there is a high chance. ESPECIALLY when Nintendo is getting a cut of the Persona money that will be coming for Switch... So certainly - Why not just be an advertisement?

Soon we will get Steve from Minecraft. XD

Another "why is X in the game when my favorite Y character isn't" post. It's the business model they chose and hoenstly, why not add more characters from different game franchises? Especially since one of the biggest selling points of Smash Bros is the fact that you can play as the character you like. I must say I am not a huge fan of Persona series, but I will gladly try him out. Whining about it is so pointless.

You can make this claim about every single DLC character ever.

Mewtwo? Advertising Pokemon XY, where Mewtwo is available.
Lucas? Advertising the Japanese re-release of Mother 3 on the WiiU eShop.
Corrin? Advertising Fates.
Cloud? Advertising Theatrhythm 2.
Bayonetta? Advertising Bayonetta 2.
Hell, you can make that claim about the entire Smash series - that it's all just an advertisement.
Sonic? PAC-MAN? Snake? Mario? 'Advertisements'.

Not saying you're wrong, but that saying that's only the case for Joker is missing the point of Smash entirely.
Characters inclusions exist to promote their respective series. That's why any Smash character is a Smash character.
But it's also a crossover fighting game, and people are excited to see the characters they like in the same game as others. Smash is like a community event for a lot of people.
So just have fun with it.

It seems many people are missing the whole point of the thread. Those that consider casual discussion of recently made big decisions as "Complaint" or "Whine" can kindly walk away. Your lack of sense is not much to be tolerated.

Aside from that, of course for the advertisings. But some are not as apparent as others. Either way, I do not care for the advertisements and I am not looking at it as that despite what it is. I am sure he will be fun, perhaps my new favorite character. Who knows.

I admit. The inclusions of so many Fire Emblem characters is not really that nice... But I love using Fire Emblem characters because they look good and use swords and can cause for some nice sword battles with stamina.

Actually Cloud was also in the Kingdom Hearts games on GBA and DS.
