Did it go flat?leave the switch to charge in the dock for an hour and try again

I used 4NCXI to convert an XCI file to NSP and got cert, nca and tik files?
(This was super mario odyssey btw)

Any advise on what to do with NCA or did i do something wrong?

probably something wrong, havent' used it myself

This has been happening to me lately, when I leave my switch on the dock overnight I come back to find that If I go to the album it shows the error message to restart the switch. If I put it into sleep for some time it does not happen. Can someone help me?

So i want to take the plunge and hack my switch for RetroArch and Quake engines but i cant seem to find a clear answer. How do i use my bought eShop and cartridges? Will they still be able to get software updates or what? I have couple 100 bucks invested in games but despite hours of searching i just cant seem to find clear info on what happens to them.
i know super noob just want to be very sure before i make that jump
A hacked Switch doesn't directly stop you from playing your legitimate games but there are some road bumps that can impede your desires. For starters, by hacking the Switch, you risk invoking a ban which will prevent you from accessing the eShop and downloading updates for all of your games. On top of that, if your console has a firmware below 4.0 and you wish to update without burning fuses, the gamecart slot will become irreversibly updated. This update prevents the slot from being usable on firmwares below 4.0. There is a way to prevent it from being updated but that involves rendering the slot unusable on firmwares of 4.0 and higher. And the only reason one might care about it being irreversibly updated is if there is a future exploit on a firmware below 4.0 that makes usage of the gamecart slot.

So to answer your question, its a yes and no type of situation.
Hi guys,

I have a new switch with firmware 4.0.1. I did a nand backup, created an emunand within sxos and updated the emunand to firnware 6.1 using choidujournx. The sysnand is still on 4.0.1 and I have 2 sd cards to keep it as clean as possible.

I'm playing my xci and nsp files only on emunand being offline and used the sysnand with the other sd card to play my original copy of Mario Odyssey and Zelda.

Can I update my sysnand after booting it from sxos (to avoid burning fuses) to 6.2 for playing fortnite, accessing the eshop and updating mario/Zelda or will there be a problem with my 6.1 emunand? I read something about problems with sleep mode and also the new security with the 6.2 update so I did not update my sysnand until now.

Thank you very much for your help.
You can update your SysNAND to 6.2 without burning fuses but you won't be able to boot your SysNAND on 6.2 with SX OS because SX OS does not support 6.2.

What CFW are you using?

Thank you for the reply. My switch is on 6.2 now, it was 5.1 but I was told there was no reason to not go ahead and update to 6.2. I have read everything I could find relating to this and people from what i can tell just recommend flashing back to stock NAND and then updating stuff but there really is no guide on using your legal software after the hack. I couldnt even find a yes or no on can i just insert a cart and play after hacking. Kinda sad found dozen guides on pirating stuff but not one on legally owned software.

I really want to use RetroArch on my Switch but I have so much invested in eShop titles, one of the main draws for me to the switch was all the pc indie titles in the eShop

That's because once you restore a clean hack-free NAND, there are no more steps afterwards...

Lets say I have OFW 6.1 and running ReinX cfw 6.1 by injecting the payload.
But now I want to update to OFW 6.2
What is the best way to update restore my clean Nand and then update through the official way in the nintendo menu??
or is there another way I need to take to update to OFW 6.2??

Restore the clean NAND then update officially if you want it to remain clean. Do note that ReiNX doesn't support firmware 6.2 and you will have to make another NAND backup since you will burn a fuse when you update officially to 6.2 rendering your old NAND backup not as useful.

Yes the idea is to update to OFW 6.2 and make a new NAND backup (I plan to do this with every future update) and when ReiNX supports 6.2 I can inject the payload and my switch will be hackable again. This is correct right??

Yes or you could switch to Atmosphere which is currently the only CFW that supports firmware 6.2

I see thanks for the help ill wait for ReiNX.
I got another question regarding NSP and XCI files (on ReiNX of course) hope you can help me.

so of course I did some research of my own and found out that ReiNX only supports NSP files or XCI files converted to a NSP file.
My question is what would be better to install a NSP file or a XCI file converted to a NSP file??
What are the up/downsides and which one is has a better chance for nintendo not detecting im playing a NSP file??

Yes I know when I do hackable stuff like this chances are high to get banned. But when there is even a slight chance to change this by converting a XCI file to NSP (if this is true?) I will do this.

First of all, ReiNX does support .XCI files if you install them with a homebrew application such as ZeroTwoXCI, dOPUS, or n1dus. They require a keys file to install them which you can obtain with the new homebrew app Lockpick.

Secondly, Nintendo can detect both .NSP and .XCI files so in terms of a ban, it doesn't really matter which ones you pick. There is a theoretically higher risk with .NSP files, but that doesn't make .XCI files safe either. A clean NAND backup is the safest way to proceed with a hacked Switch. Everything else from CFW to homebrew to .NSP or .XCI files all carry an inherent risk not found with a clean hack-free NAND dump.

in your opinion whats a better dongle/jig combo. i had just ordered a atmosphere dongle/jig combo but due to a chipping error i am able to re-evaluate my decision. sx-os? (more expensive) or atmosphere?
also isn't the ban risk pretty high on sx-os?

my goal is to play one of these nands with my game carts online and one for my carts that i have dumped with another switch (as i detest carrying around all my physical games)

I don’t know how to quote properly but I am using atmosphere

Correct

Sleep mode is forfeited when the fuses burn and you downgrade, if you upgrade and don't burn fuses sleepmode should still work.

Yes, however if you install the update officially it overrides boot0 (autoRCM) so you are required to have a jig inserted into the joycon rail to boot back into rcm with the button combination and re-enable Autorcm.

does that make sense?

The above is taken from the reinx guide but should explain the process

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

of course you can substitute the pushed reinx.bin with hekate
That all makes sense, thanks.

So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.

I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports

they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
